Raivess's Workbook
Reality Checks:
- Checking the time on my watch (Is this right? I read it somewhere, but I don't remember where...)
- Reading things
- Trying to put finger through hand
Dream Signs:
- Seeing my Dad (deceased)
- Not being myself or viewing from a third person view - I very often seem not to be me.
Short-Term Goals:
- Remember to practice RC during the day
- To improve dream recall
- To keep writing in my dream journal
Long-Term Goals:
- To have a lucid dream
- To be myself in dreams (Are there any methods that can help with this? I don't want to not be me in my own dreams all the time...)
-
Lucid/Dream Recall History:
- I remember a few dreams, but have a great many mornings when I know I did dream, but not what. As a child, I had many lucid dreams, but for the purposes of this site, I won't count them. It feels like a different life, and I have long since lost/forgotten whatever ability or technique I had. So, my lucid dream count is zero. (Sigh!)
Current Technique:
-I want to WILD, but for now I'm going to start with DILD/MILD - I'll work on RC obsessively, I think...
-
Welcome to the class Raivess, thanks for posting a workbook!
You know, I get the 3rd person thing alot too in dreams. The only exception is the lucid ones. Good idea to start with DILDs. Most of my LDs now, and all the ones I had before I discovered DreamViews (or the subject of lucid dreaming in general) were DILDs. It's a great feeling to suddenly discover, within a dream, that you're dreaming.
To answer your question about being yourself, I'd say that the cure IS lucid dreaming. You're so aware at this point, that it feels like real life. And since you're always 1st person in real life (unless something crazy is going on :P). So bumping up your daily awareness in real life could also contribute to your being in 1st person in your nonlucids, as well as helping you attain lucid dreams.
Look forward to your progress!

Lesson 1 Homework
3. Record the times that I naturally go to bed and wake up.
Go to bed – Around 11:30 – 12:00
Wake up – Naturally between 6:30 and 7:30
4. Do reality checks whenever I experience something weird throughout the day, and list it in my workbook.
I’ve only done a few reality checks for ‘weird’ things. I had a couple of really surreal moments, and did RC. Both times, strangely, were when I was going into the store room at work to get something. Nothing strange happened, but I had the weirdest sensation of ‘am I actually awake?’ and checked. Unfortunately, I was awake…
But I’ve been using the ‘Prospector’ app on my android for reality checks in general. I like it, though I really need to edit the things it asks me to check! “The next time you hear a man speaking” – *Looks at my male work colleagues and sighs* This could be a long day of reality checking…
5. Write a list of why I want to lucid dream and plan out what I want to do while lucid dreaming.
I want to lucid dream because I want to live a life outside of reality. The idea of being able to learn to control my dreams and really explore the dream landscape is exciting.
- I think I should start out simple – If I can stop what I’m doing in the dream and say ‘I know this is a dream., I’ll count it a success to begin with.
- Leaving the path, so to speak, is the next thing I want to do. I want to go places that the dream didn’t intend and see what I can find.
- Find a DC of choice (introduce them by ‘finding’ them somewhere likely. I read this somewhere on the forum – look for them somewhere expected or contact them in a likely way, i.e. phone call.)
6. Establish a night-time routine.
Still trying to remember this one. I have the routine in mind… right up until I’m supposed to be doing it!
9. Start practicing awareness from Lesson III
I’m trying this one, but I have a lot of difficulty with it, particularly in work. How to stay self-aware when awareness in itself makes a long and generally dull work day seem even longer? The motivation for this one isn’t easy… Any suggestions from anyone?
