Forrest's Workbook
Finally getting serious about lucid dreaming again, and this website has really impressed me. I'm looking forward to stumbling across all the info that's out there, expanding my awareness and having fun along the way. My RCs have had an inspiring spiritual quality that I didn't really expect; and I am hoping to continue using this inspiration as a catalyst for improving myself. Feel free to shoot me a question or comment about anything I mention in here. If you have a suggestion about how I can tweak/add something to what I'm doing, or if I can clarify something weird I might say please let me know.
Reality Checks:
- Spinning in a circle and observing deeply. I've read this can also help keep one in a Lucid dream.
- Kuji In (Japanese method of finger folding; essentially "Mudras" but a concise, refined series of them.). It helps me to observe the look/feel of my hands.
- Meditation upon my awareness of self/specific observations or objects.
Dream Signs:
- Notice that I can jump really high.
- Back in school
- ?
Short-Term Goals:
- Lucid dream longer by relaxing/spinning/rubbing my hands together.
- Demand more answers to the questions I have about my past/my emotional life.
- Try to find DCs who will have direct conversations with me instead of acting like pre-programmed NPCs.
Long-Term Goals:
- Be able to regularly sit down and relax fully while examining objects/people within my dreams.
- Have a list of personalized verbal commands that I can recall and utilize with skill.
- Be able to fly and shoot energy blasts and things at any time :cooler:
Lucid/Dream Recall History:
- I have had many, many lucid dreams in my teenage years. But I haven't had the ability/focus/self awareness to do so in the last several years... pretty much. Last few months though, I've utilized some techniques from worldofluciddreaming.com; they list some verbal commands you can speak/yell to your subconscious self to attain desired effects. Most notably for me: "Clarity, NOW!" has been the game-changer. This can take away a lot of the fog around your peripheral "vision" and clarify detail, also it has made my thoughts/focus sharper. I conjured up serious answers to some demands/questions of mine and now I'm always thinking of lucid dreams before I go to bed.
Current Technique:
- Dream Initiated Lucid Dreams (DILDS)
Thanks for reading if you have. I wish you all knowledge and lucidity...

Having trouble maintaining them for more than a minute or so before waking.
Succeeded in issuing commands, and causing one important experience to arise.
Need more RCs, and need to research methods to help stay asleep.

Hey Forrestwolf, shorter lds can very common, especially in the beginning. With more practice you will learn how to stay in the dream world longer.
What has really helped me stay in the dream longer is to keep being engaged in the dream. I usually have a predetermined task I want to do and once I become lucid I go about completing my task. Additional things you might do are to examine objects around you, feeling the surface, noticing all the details, etc. This helps anchor oneself in the dream.
If you are interested in tasks to do in dreams you can check out our montly and yearly tasks here:
Tasks of the Month & Year
Good luck! :)

Awesome, thank you very much.
I've been just walking away and imagining what to do next... probably a little too rushed. I will try to focus on simple things and slow down in the future. I remember one time I sat down and started picking apart a plant, and dug my hands in the dirt to test out how it felt. That helped me focus. I'll check out that task page as well.
Best regards.

No longer counting short lucid dreams. I have had one success though:
One intense dream in the morning hours involved overwhelmingly detailed and captivating landscapes, over which I was evidently drifting as if I had a large balloon tied to me. The landscapes faded out and new ones appeared leaving me in a tropical Hawaiian type setting when I became lucid. I was hovering over a field, and suddenly directed myself towards the tall grass with the driving intent of burying my hands in the soil. After landing, I quickly realized that I could stabilize my senses and walk on instead, without waking myself up.
I felt very solid as if walking down the street in waking life, and I wandered on with the intent of finding a house or meeting people before I lost the dream. I walked directly into a small house with an open door and saw two older women in the main room, aged about early fifties or so. One was vacuuming and one was sitting on a couch and watching tv or knitting or something. I sat down on the ground in front of them and said something like "hey, I know I'm dreaming, please tell me something about my relationships.". Which was oddly specific for the questions I usually ask, however I felt rather emotional, like I was speaking with two mothers of mine from a different life.
I remember the one sitting down said (and I paraphrase) "Relationships; there are many aspects to life besides relationships.", which I thought was strangely profound. The other said "Relationships I have with all things; the trees in the yard, the birds and with the wind." which also made me think. They spoke oddly, yet they left me with something to ponder in their odd way.

Imo, it's important to celebrate all lds as they show us our progress.
Great ld! That's a very interesting answer you got, especially about the relationship btw you and other things. :)

Thank you NyxCC
I hear you... Suppose I feel like I do value them deeply, I've just been glossing over the short ones in a haste to have deeper experiences. I'll move forward with their true value in mind. Thanks for that reminder.
Been having very deep and emotional connections in dreams lately, but only one more lucid dream. It was very clear and solid though, and I really appreciated that sort of clarity as foothold for future progress. Even though my lucid dreams have been short-lived, I've had striking revelations, feats of incredible power, and tantalizing glimpses at future possibilities. It feels like my initial excitement in discovering this website, working on lucid dreams again, and all my thoughts and feelings on on delving into my psyche has now kind of coalesced, and I'm ready to relax and do some of the serious legwork.
I'll start a dream journal at long last, recognizing that it will help my dream recall in the long run; and I'll start taking notes about my progress and methods used. I've been leaning on my prior abilities from when I was younger and downplaying the effects of the chasm of time in which there were no lucid dreams at all.
Time for Homework For Lesson II:
1) Study up on all of the induction techniques listed here and find one that suits you.
Definitely DILDs. I notice I'm dreaming all the time, but don't always hold the feeling, or I distract myself with something that is present in the dream and too interesting to pass up. WILDs are the most successful, but the least common because I don't recall waking up much. The meditation (yoga) one is pretty intriguing, but I've got to get back in the swing of regular meditation first.
2) Practice your chosen induction technique for at least 2 weeks (although longer is preferred) before changing it to something else or ruling out that it's not working.
Been kind of doing this, but I will re-initiate this process. Just want to see how RCing more seriously and starting a journal will help .
3) Continue to post all of your experiences, even failed ones, into your workbook.
Check :P

Dream Journal underway :shadewink:
No lucid dreams lately really. My dreams have been so touching, visually complex and meaningful that when I do become lucid I actively decide to examine what I am already experiencing; which in turn leads to further dreaming I don't mind being lost in.
Seems the Journal has brought deeper dreams to the surface due to my subconscious readiness to remember, and record them. ?
It's a wonderful dance sometimes. I'm enticed by what my progress could mean in time.

^^ This is pretty cool actually. There's so much interesting stuff going on in our dreams. :)
