Rave:
i've had a new revelation....I like these it makes me feel like i'm seeing more of the bigger picture.
I have noticed a profound difference between my visualisation using my normal imagination (no different from day dreaming) and
my visualisation using hypnogogic images (i still don't know if thats what it is)
Firstly daydreaming , using my imagination I have to create everything. It could be compared possibly to trying to control the whole of a dream I would imagine, a large amount of energy is required. The more I want to visualise the bigger the burden, energy wise.
My daydreaming is of course controlled by thoughts, in the way i'm sure were all used too.
I feel my daydreams produces something vague and unwieldy, when I try to visualise many things or a large scene.
In contrast my hypnagogic minds eye imagination gives me a scene to work with fully created ready to go, in exactly the same way a dream does (not sure if any difference).
I don't feel like i'm expending much energy in comparison with my daydreaming, it feels less heavy.
(Although the scene I felt was unwieldy but now i'm getting more of the hang of it.)
Daydreaming means I think things and they are created.
Hypnagogic MindsEye is different it's more like controlling your body. You don't say left arm move, you don't even think it. It just happens instantaneously.
Making a sword appear (as I tryed undissolving from a material fluidly) is instantaneous, it is like thought without words.
I have realised that the scenes that I viewed also were generated inadvertently by me. I had thought iredescent would be nice. And every scene and material presented to me in my mindseye had the most amazing textures. Even the plane a beautiful metallic red.
It seems very dream like from what I have heard.
So this may help my dream control (for in the future) more than normal daydreaming, visualisations.

The attempts at DEILD did help my recall.

Your observations about the two types of visializations make a lot of sense. I have noticed something similar. The only problem I have is that hypnagotic visualization doesn't always begin by itself so easily. Usually the strongest such occurences are if I have been sleep derived - then strong visuals hit me almost instanteously after going to bed. But at other times these are more difficult to trigger. Have you found a way to get to these?

Maybe i'm sleep deprived...I just close my eyes and wait a second for something to appear. I'm reading up more about hypnagogic state now, i'm super curious about it.
Are I just tried it...seems to work better if i'm laying down, ideally in a darkened room (else I have after glow of objects under my eyelids).
