Repressed Dreams
Hello my name is Tyrell Powe im 18 an im from Alabama. I have a problem, i don't know why but for some odd reason i don't dream. I've been told before that i do, i just dont remember them. That's not completely true. When i was small i had bad dreams always different, about what i identified now as what some call a " reptillian " . In every Dream i would be attaked by this reptillian and would run for my life. sometimes i would escape but most of the time i would get caught and wake up. I would tell my mother and she would pray for me. one day at church the preacher said a prayer that asked for guidance into banishing these dreams and since then they stoped, until i was 13. Long story short the dreams came back but the monster i dreamt about has left along with it, now im searching for enlightenment on why these dreams occured. But the only problem is I havent dreamt for a while, any thougt's?

Its more likely repressed memories than dreams.
Dreaming is pretty much a natural bodily requirement. Only in very rare instances and disorders is dreaming non-existent. Its necessary to keep the mind functioning, and without it severe mental stress can cause (and has caused) a various number mental and physical health issues.
Rest assure your dreams weren't "banished." Its far more likely that the fear and stress that you experienced at that time was recognized as taking a toll on your conscious mind, and thus the memory of these and future dreams were repressed as a safety mechanism.

Hi,
I would also add that chasing dreams are very common. I guess it's some sort of an instinctual thing to humans and possibly other animals, you know, fight or flight - that sort of thing. Personally, I've been having chasing dreams ever since I can remember. Especially the earliest ones, when I was like 6 or something, there were aliens, gigantic cloaked men, you name it... even elevators - yes they are evil and it was horrible. Luckily, nothing phases me anymore. Probably thanks to video games and desensitization via movies and internet. So I haven't had a real nightmare for years now.
My message to you is that don't worry about dreams and always remember that they are a part of you and that you are in control. The reptilian was probably just something your child-brain caught as a perfect object to scare you with for the next few years... because that seems what they like to do.
Good luck!

i can relate dear tyrell. i used to have this reoccurring dream when i was a young boy. of being asleep on the floor in an apartment full of my mom and her friends whilst they were socializing. and i remember this as clear as it was to me back then. It was similar to a dream within ones dream where i would be asleep, dreaming of riding my bike or playing at the beach in our home of panama city FL. but soon i would wake, finding myself in this apartment and being confronted by an enormous reptile. like a HUGE snake, drooling at the sight of my tasty human flesh, inching closer to devouring me. I would be frozen in place and i would cry out for my mother, but the only thing that came out was breath of raspy air. so i would try harder and harder until i woke myself screaming.
Luckily this eventually went away and i havent had that dream in quite some time. and for the longest time i couldnt seem to remember ANYTHING about my dreams so i was convinced i never dreamt. but this changed after a few years when my long time friend had his mutual friend hand make me a dreamcatcher. this dreamcatcher hung above my bed on the wall and warded off foul dreams and spirits(according to the cherokee indians.)
dont worry my friend. you mind is in control. repeat your mantra of "tonight, i will remember my dreams." over and over and it will get better for you. convince your brain while you are concious that this will happen and your ever receptive subconcious will respond!
Good luck!
