      Failed WILD- Advice?

I know these have been posted a million times, and I was actually waiting to make my first post with my first lucid, but I just attempted a WILD and failed. I set my alarm, went to sleep, and woke up. Then I stayed absolutely still for a long time, and got numb, but nothing happened. It is extremely frustrating, and I would like to know what I did wrong.

Hi. Is this your first time attempting to Wild? It takes many (often failed) attempts to figure out how to wild. How long did you sleep before you tried to wild? Your REM cycles(when you have more vivid dreams) are longer and closer together after 3-5 hours of sleep. Did you move at all(including your eyes)? Also, were you thinking about stuff as you were laying there? Try counting your breaths to keep your mind clear(without concentrating on it). WILDs usually end in FALSE-awakenings, so if you ever enter sleep paralysis or get vibrations and they stop, do a reality check. Be patient, because the first few times you enter SP you will be startled out of it.Out of my 40+ Wild attemps, I've only had 5-6 successfull ones.I'd give some tips, but I'm replying on my ZuneHD, so typing takes forever.

Thanks for the advice. I knew about some of that stuff already, but I think I messed up on how long I slept for.

The problem that most people have with WILD is that they don't let their body fall asleep. The key is to trick your body into falling asleep.

You need to be falling asleep for WILD to work. If you lay in bed still constantly monitering the feelings you get, looking for SP, or just paying too much attention in general, you will never fall asleep.

I started making progress with WILDs once I started just laying still like I was going to sleep, and just kept a blank mind, letting thoughts freely flow in and out.

Just lay still and let thoughts flow through your head, don't force any thoughts.
