Hey, also new here
Hey, just thought I'd introduce myself. I did some lucid dreaming a while back. Got okay at inducing but not so good at staying lucid. I have an open mind toward anything for sure lucid dreaming, but also shared dreaming and everything else. Looking forward to some great conversations with everyone :)

Hey Morpheus, I'll look forward to seeing you around the site. My best tricks for maintaining/heightening lucidity are closing my eyes in the dream and either spinning around (great way to change the scenery) or saying the phrase "higher level lucidity." I got frustrated enough with losing lucidity that I learned to catch it slipping and use one of these methods to stabilize.

To add to that, I'll just go ahead and post my response to another thread about ten seconds ago :)
The biggest thing is to relax. Once you realize you're dreaming, take a moment and just relax. Keep reminding yourself that you're dreaming. Another thing you can do is to rub your hands together or walk around or do something else to help you focus on how your dream body feels rather than your waking body. Keep reminding yourself that you're dreaming. If you wake up, do a reality check just to make sure and if it takes a little while to fall back asleep, just take things as they come A lot of people go through this and it just takes practice and persistence. You'll get it soon enough if you stick with it!
Also, when you wake up, don't move. As soon as you start moving you start leaving the world of the dream and start to forget. It's also a good thing to do when trying to recall dreams.
Lastly, welcome to DV! We're glad you here and let us know if there's any way we can help.
Sweet lucid dreams!
