Am i close?
Hey, im new here but ive been trying to lucid dream for a month now.
Last night i had this dream-But i wasn't lucid. This just happened in my dream. It was about lucid dreaming. (i was trying to WILD but i fell asleep).
I was in some bedroom and then i was thinking' hey i'm dreaming! i can do whatever i want to! Now what should i do? Then i apparently thought i wanted i giant shoe in my room and i jumped in it ( i dont know) And 'closed' my eyes to help me think of what else would be awesome, but i drifted off to another dream. I normally remember many dreams too, but i keep a dream journal anyway. So do you think this happened randomly or that it was a part-lucid dream?

There is on such thing as part lucid. Are you sure you weren't lucid in the dream? I'm somewhat confused by your post, you say you were not lucid then you describe what appears to be a lucid dream.
-
I know, um, i was confused by it too. Like, I didnt realize by myself that i was dreaming. It was a dream and then in my dream (i didnt do this myself) I thought or said " im dreaming!' Because my dream said this, i became partly aware i was dreaming but i couldn't quite control it. I'm sorry this is really hard to explain. So i was either lucid, or dreaming.?

I know what is it. You were indeed not lucid, however, the fact of remembering your dreams and your will to turn lucid is in your subconscious and you are dreaming about archiving your goals. It means you are closer to archive lucidity soon because your mind is focused to it.
Keep up the good work!!!

It's hard to tell from this particular example. I'd almost say that yes, you were lucid, but what many people on the forums call "semi-lucid." Which, by popular definition would mean you were only just aware of the fact that you were dreaming. The knowledge was there in the back of your head - you know what you're looking at is a dream, but control doesn't even factor into the equation. In fact, in my semi-lucids, I'm powerless to do anything except watch myself act like a dork :P
But, semi-lucid might be a bit of a misnomer. To be honest, Waka is correct, there is technically no such thing as part lucid. Or semi-lucid. You either knew you were dreaming, or you didn't. There are, however, different LEVELS of lucidity. On the most basic level, you know you are dreaming somewhere in the back of your head. Each level has a bit more clearer processes of thought. The amount of levels are entirely up to you. I have three (not lucid, semi-lucid, full lucid). Some people have 5. Some do 10 (and so on).
Controlling dreams is something entirely different altogether :) Some of my best control actually happens in my non-lucids or in my lower levels of lucidity. It seems the more lucid I am, the more chance I have to either over-think the goal I want to achieve, or doubt my ability to achieve it.

I read in a book from Robert Waggoner that we have 5
-Sub-Lucid: Knowing you are dreaming but following the plot of the dream
-Semi-Lucid: Realizing you are dreaming with little to no control
-Lucid: Realizing the dream and have some sort of control on the dream
-Fully lucid: Bring waking memories to the dream and being able to carry activities and goals from waking into the lucid
-Super Lucid: Project your conscious out of the dream to higher levels of consciousness (no Astral Projection, just ignoring all plots of the dream and developing your inner self)

Those sound good :P... but then there's too many colours to remember in dream journals! (says the girl who used to use 7... >.>)

thanks for all the info. In the dream, everything was like, super clear, i still can remember what the view looked like out the window and everything. But i had no control over my dream. So i guess i wasnt lucid, but i remembered it well. I'm going to keep trying and hopefully ill get it next time.

Was it a 3rd person view? Many times people will experience knowing they're dreaming but viewing it as an outsider and watching the events go on, while having no control on the dream whatsoever. This still can happen in a first person view though.

actually, it switched. I remember seeing myself sitting on the bed, but when i 'realized' i was dreaming it was first person.
