HI (hypnagogic imagery) and welcome.
never experienced it myself though =(, but I guess its part of falling asleep and waking up.

Yeah, it is a common thing to happen, especially when you are in SP or really tired and falling asleep. Nothing to be scared off. Welcome to DV, btw.

Hi Chris, welcome to Dreamviews! :woohoo:
:welcome:
What you're seeing is called hypnagogic imagery, which happens during SP. It's all in your mind so there's no dangerous aspect to it. Myself, I haven't seen spiders or any sort of animals; I've mostly experienced tactile sensations instead of visual ones.

Welcome nig! You will find all you need to know on this site.
I usually just see shadows on my wall..

I have also witnessed strange things floating around my room upon waking up (hypnopompic images). I have actually swatted at these images and my hand seems to make them move (as if moving your hand through smoke) and then the images reform before disappearing altogether. They typically last about 5 seconds, enough time to blink a few times and question what you're seeing. Pretty neat!
