Eyes Open Question
When you are asleep, does having the light on or having your eyes open affect the dream at all?
I've never found out because
1. I don't sleep with the light on
2. I don't sleep with my eyes open
3. I have only had one lucid dream, so if I had done any of the above, I probably wouldn't know it.
Im just curious because I suddenly had the thought a long time ago, and I've wondered about it ever since.
If anyone knows of the differences there are (if any at all), please let me know.

1. In order to fall asleep your body has to produce a compound called melatonin, which it does best in darkness, light inibits the production of said chemical, therefore having the light on would make it hard to fall asleep in the first place and then, if you managed to fall asleep, really easy to wake up as well (it wouldn't take much to wake you up).
2. It's impossible to sleep with your eyes open. Human anatomy. When you fall asleep, the muscles holding your eyelids open relax, and your eyes shut. :P
3. Don't worry, you'll have more. :)

Thanks for the info on 1, but I disagree with your answer to 2. I have known people who sleep with their eyes open.
Also, for 3, thankyou :)

No problem. :)
And that's really interesting... I thought that sleeping with your eyes open was impossible. You may fall asleep with them open, but once you're asleep they naturally shut, at least that's what I've found... but I do believe you, I've just never seen it myself.
Anyways, good luck!
