Hoodsie the noob here!
Ok, so, I really want to be able to lucid dream. However... I'm having some troubles finding the right way to try.
I've tried WILD a few times, but from the "phases" I've seen i haven even managed to do get into phase one despite trying for many hours.
I'd like to try another aproach, any chance anyone can tell me the way they got into lucid dreaming and what worked for them, also can i please be told about the time it takes?
Thanks vm :)

WILD'ing is very hard for me - I've tried it a bunch of times over a couple years, but never managed to do it successfully. I either fall asleep and forget to stay conscious, or my mind is too active, and I can't fall back asleep.
My first LD (and the vast majority of my LD's since then) have been DILD (dream induced lucid dream). The idea is that you do a lot of reality checking all day long, and eventually you'll do one while you're in a dream and become lucid. For example, my technique is to do a reality check every time I walk through a door. Since I do this a lot, chances are I'll do it during a dream and become lucid! Using this method it took me about a week to have my first LD - but it varies greatly between people.
For some more good ideas and techniques, I highly recommend reading Stephen LeBarge's "Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming". It's a very good book with some useful guides to start Lucid Dreaming.
If you don't want to spend the money on the book, read Dreamviews tutorial on the homepage: Dreamviews Lucid Dreaming Community & Resource - Add New Section
It's also very good, and includes some of the information you'll get from Lebarge's book.
Hope that helped. Happy Dreaming!
