strange dream
hi everyone, just wanted to share a dream experience i had last night and see if any of you have had the same happen before.
in my waking reality i have been practicing my reality checks each day, and last night i had a dream, and i have experienced these kind of dreams before where their is a ghost or some kind of presence i cant see in the house, and i try and turn on a light and it wont come on. well this happened in my dream last night, and i must have noticed it as a dream sign, caus in the dream i suddenly said wait, this must be a dream, and i did 2 reality checks but it seemed as if everything was normal. so it was like i saw a dream sign so i did reality checks to find out for sure if it was a dream, but at no point was i in control nor did it become a lucid dream, it just continued on as a normal dream.
anyone else experience this before ?

For some reason lights don't work in dreams for a lot of people. Maybe because our brain can't handle it like words in a dream.

what im saying is, when i saw that the light would not work and i suddenly said, wait i must be dreaming, why then didnt i become lucid if i realized i must be dreaming ?

Yes, I have had something similar. Very similar to yours though, I woke up and tried to turn the lights on, but they didn't so I did a couple of reality checks, those failed (which I am guessing for you, that yours told you that you weren't in reality, but were dreaming.) but I didn't become lucid, I just continued on with the dream as if nothing happened. I believe this happens, because of self beliefs. During that dream, did it ever feel when doing the RCs, like you were actually there? Or was it like a normal dream that you just remember doing that when you woke up. I have had dreams where I would be talking about lucid dreaming, even in one I talked to a celebrity who was into lucid dreaming lol. It's all about awareness, next time you are doing your daily Reality Checking, really really question whether you are dreaming, even if you know that you are awake, just really question it. That would probably be the problem, during your daily life you do RCs, but you don't question reality itself. Dream signs, and RCs can only work so much, it is the awareness factor. I recommend reading Puffin's DILD Tutorial. It explains it in more detail, just know you aren't alone, I had some very embarrassing ways in which I missed the sign of a dream. Just keep at it.

great advice, thanks, yeah when i was doing the reality checks it was just like a dream although it was me saying it, it was not real vivid or anything. thanks again.

You may have been lucid on a very low level, if you had the presence of mind to say, "This must be a dream."
I've had many LD's where I just know it's a dream, but I continue on with the dream as if the realization meant nothing.
Sometimes, I get LD's where lucidity seeps in so gradually, I don't get that moment of "Oh!" I just become aware gradually and walk away when I'm able to.
And sometimes, I get LD's where it's gradual, but low-level, and it isn't until I'm recalling the dream (and the actions that happened) that remind me that I was lucid enough to exert some control over the dream... but these LD's where there's no lightbulb moments are sometimes hard to determine.

i hear ya, i do recall the dream quite clearly, so maybe on a very low level i was somewhat aware. thanks.
