Hello :]
Hey, I'm new here and I've been lurking around for a couple weeks so I thought it was time I'd introduce myself.
I came across lucid dreaming on another forum called weridethelines, a line rider forum :cheeky: I began researching and discovered a lot about the dream world, as well as sleep paralysis, Lucidity, and dream recall. I have some pretty basic knowledge and am quite familiar with the movie Inception :D
As far as my progress goes on lucid dreaming, I've only been able to have one, and it ended as soon as I realized i was dreaming >_> excitement ftl (which is ironic, don't you think? To get so excited over something that it ends). However I do have multiple dreams a night and they are very clear and vivid, but I just can't bring myself to that 'I must be dreaming!' state. If anyone has any advice on how I can improve my lucidity, that'd be great. I've also tried many methods, none of which seem to really work other than give me a bad case of the grumps when I wake up.
So that's basically it, I come here a lot to check out new methods and discussions so I think I may start posting in more threads seeing as I'm here often. Thanks for reading, stay lucid!

Hello, welcome to dreamviews.
Good you already had your first lucid. You wake up because your focus and attention goes to the excitement, not the dream. You get so excited and focused on the tought that you became lucid that the dream fades.
The only advice is to keep working on your recall and general awareness. It may take time to you lucid often, maybe a lot of time. You just need to keep working on it. Stick to a technique, DILD for example, then after some success and being confident that you can proceed, go for others, like WILD (I tell you, this technique is hard for me, I have been working on it for two months and with partial success only, but I dont give up, hehe).
Well, any other questions, you can ask, the other members and I will be ready to help you, feel free to drop me a PM.

thanks for the advice :) I'll do my best to keep writing in my DJ and work on general awareness. I have tried a method where you write the letter A on your palm and it's suppose to stand for 'Awake' so when you dream or just simply in reality you look at your palm and challenge yourself if you're truly awake or not. While I have not actually been able to do this in an actual dream, I do remember to do it every so often in reality. I'm hoping I can remember to try this in a dream and maybe get lucky.
Thanks for the tip though, appreciate it.

Well, I do not recommend the "write something on your hand reality check" - personal preference. I would recommend you to work on general awareness on your daily life, when something odd happens and at random intervals of the day, do a reality check. But don't just RC, really question your actual state; are you awake or dreaming ? Take a look arround, think about you have done in the past minutes, can you remember something ? Then proceed to reality check, I, personally, use the finger counting and nose pinch reality check, where you pinch your nose and try to breath, if you can, you are dreaming.

well thanks I'll give that a try :] thanks again for more useful advice. I'll work on my general awareness more.
