I know that dream journal is probably necessary for achieving a LD, but what if any of your dreams take around a book to be described? I mean, tonight i had a dream that could easily be the whole GTA5 script, and a script for two movies. Last month I dreamed of the best splinter cell ever. Another problem I have is the absolute chaos in some of my dreams, so even in those rare occasions I do have an LD, I often get distracted and forget I am dreaming. Any opinion welcome and thanks. :)
Fur really long ones, you can just write down a quick summary, sounds like you're not having much trouble with recall ;)
I'm having the same problem. To be honest, I personally believe it's less to do with the content of the dreams & more to do with the mind & communication style of the individual. I often don't write a journal because, as you say, it takes page after page after page to get it all down, but I think this is more to do with an eye for detail & a sense of perfectionism than the content of the dreams, as there are examples of it elsewhere in life. Ever notice how some people, when you ask them as simple question, like, "How was your weekend?" will give you a full epic-trilogy account of what sounds like a relatively simple weekend? There's nothing wrong with this as we all do it to a greater or lesser extent - I know I do it in almost every area of my life; I like to think of it as me 'having the mind of a writer' - I absorb sooo much detail...too much for what is practical. This kind of uber-impressiveness could possibly account for your dilema - as the previous poster said - it seems like evidence of quite substantial recall. I'm suggesting that, like myself & many others, you have a very broad attention span. But as the purpose of DJ's is simply to encourage a more conscious link between you dreamlife & waking life, you could probably get the desired effect from a simple summary & let some of the more finer details remain in your head. I guess it would take practice & perhaps I should take some of this advice myself - look how many lines I've taken to simply reiterate the previous comment!
Work on summarizing your dream into a few sentences. You don't have to write a whole novel after every dream. You could even just jot down some key words representing emotions, people, and places. That should be enough to jog your memory in the future.
