I do not know much about that, but from what I've read it's not that different. The main difference is the behavior of the student, the goals and his beliefs. |

Does anyone know if there is a difference between Buddhist dream yoga and lucid dreaming? I've ordered some books on the topic, but I'm curious if anyone here knows dream yoga? |

That retreat sounds wonderful! Please come back and post your experiences here, some of the stuff you learn. I'd so much appreciate it. |

One difference between lucid dreaming and dream yoga is the yogis claim to be able to retain consciousness even through slow wave sleep , while lucid dreamers are only proficient during REM sleep. There was a chapter about this in a compilation that I have read called Conscious Mind, Sleeping Brain. The goal of dream yoga was to prepare for death by being able to maintain full awareness even though sleep. The idea was that maybe if they got good enough at this, they would be able to keep conscious while dying 8)! This way they could be able to avoid being reborn. They considered life itself to be a dream. |
