I think I almost had my first lucid dream

I've found lucid dreaming really interesting so I just bought a book from amazon called "Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming". I read up to chapter 3 or 4 which pretty much explained what lucid dreaming is, how you should keep a journal and trying to constantly question if you are in a dream when something feels off. I'm really busy right now with work so I decided to wait until I have more free time to start a dream journal. I do try to recall as many dreams as possible while I'm getting ready in the morning. In the book the author talks about looking at clocks then looking at them again to see if it changes. Well in my dream I was dreaming about a wall of pocket watches. The top ones were broken and the bottom ones were working fine. I decided the broken watch would help me have a lucid dream which also made me realise I was dreaming. As soon as I realised I thought to sense how I was feeling. I blacked out and my body was all tingling and wierd and woke up right after. I have a few questions on this experience

-was I on the right track of having a lucid dream?
-would that even be considered a lucid dream since I realised I was in a dream?
-does that always happen when you are experiencing a lucid dream?
-when I realized I was dreaming it didn't feel as vivid as when I'm awake. Is this because I didn't truly experience it?

Either way this one dream has definitely really sparked my interest now haha..:)

Yeah you had your first lucid dream. It may have only lasted seconds but you realised you were dreaming.

It may not have been as vivid as you'd have liked because you didn't or couldn't ground yourself in the dream. This may also be why it ended so quickly — although that could just be because you were at the end of your REM cycle or something as well.
When I had my first lucid dream it was like I was drunk. Everything was blurry and I had poor balance. So I used my sense of touch to ground myself (best method is supposed to be picking up a rock or something to focus on, and touch, it) and things got a bit clearer.
My second lucid dream was extremely clear and there was no hint of that drunk feeling.

Keep it up; stay calm when you become lucid and I'm sure your next one will be better.
