My LDs and joining this forum...

Hey guys, I just joined this forum! Looks great and I hopeto learn more about LDs since I've only had 2... I want to get a few things right here... Are you sure that when your dreaming and become lucid, is it actually your mind controlling th dream, or is it still running its course on the dream your in? I know I'm a skeptic. I think too logical sometimes. It sometimes is hard for me to concentrate. Have any tips? I've only had 2 LDs, but I'm not sure if they were or not due to the first question I asked. Nice forums and I plan to stick around a while.

First of all one must understand how the Mind works. ;) Not always a simple task. Basically your dreams are the creation of your subconscious mind while your conscious awareness takes a back seat for awile. Your dreams seem cloudy and hard to remember when you wake up because effectively your conscious mind wasn't participateing. Now, when you have a lucid dream your conscious mind comes along to participate either by direction or on accident (spontainiously). Thats why lucid dreams are so clear, you're there! Now you ask, is my mind in control or the dream? Well, both your conscious and subconscious are parts of your mind. Sometimes they work together, other times independently. So wether you are consciously in control of your dream or not, it's still a function of your mind. :D

As far as tips, I would recommend scanning through the tutorials, they're a vast source of information.

When you become lucid, it's your conscious mind recognizing that you are dreaming, nothing more. However, the dream doesn't just stop (unless you wake yourself up) at that realization. The conscious mind can, though force of will, control the environment around oneself but the person must retain a state of lucidity. Often a person will become lucid and then lose it and the dream will go on, once again directed by the subconscious. Sometimes people who are lucid will just sit back and let the dream take its course, usually if they're "naturals" or those who become lucid without having to use any kind of technique.
