First lucid dream!!! But some weird things happened...

Hey guys! I had my first lucid dream the other night!!! It was awesome, I remember waking up and going to the shower, then reading my sticky that said "reality check" and I was like, huh.. OH MY GOD
and like in the movies had a series of flashbacks and remembered my entire dream and that I was totally lucid.


Now the weird thing about it was how I attained my lucidity. It was through the Nose Plugging RC, however it took me 3 tries.

I was in a car with a woman and we both got out, she stared at me as I randomly did a reality check, the thing is, it didnt work. I couldn't breath. But what is weird is that the dream then reset and I didnt notice it at all. The scene repeated and once more I failed the RC. It repeated one more time, except this time the woman folded her arms, and said "C'mon..."

when I tried the Nose plugging RC this time through I could breath and I snapped out of my unawareness and realized it was a dream. I was thrilled. The lady then said "I knew you could do it" smiled, and disappeared. I turned around and began my lucid adventure


Im curious as to why the RC failed twice, and why my dream kept resetting until I got it right... Whats up with that? why hasn't it done this before? its as if my subconscious wanted me to become lucid.

(also kind of off topic, but can someone direct me to where I can find some tips on keeping focus? I tried to shoot fire out of my hands but it instead was this small liquid fire. Like it was a wimpy version of what I wanted. I was having issues with doing exactly what I wanted to do for a lot of things, (flying was just low gravity jumping etc...)

Well that sounds interesting. To me that woman sounds like a dream guide. (But I don't know whether those are for real, or not...)
As for the focus thing I don't really know.

I had a similar experience for my first dream. A woman had told me, "I think it's working. If I pinch my nose I can still breathe" I told her, "Yeah whatever" but attempted the RC in order to prove to her that she was wrong. Hey presto I was lucid. I turned around to look at her, in utter amazement, and she disappeared.

Reality checks don't always work. Don't rely on the reality check necessarily. If you ever find yourself reality checking, just look around and consider lucidity. Whether you're dreaming or not, become more aware. The fact that you're thinking about dreams should trigger lucidity. It's very hard when you give it an honest look to mistake dreams for reality. Congrats on the LD anyways.
