I know for a fact I have done this and ever since then have tried to but I'm never successful.
While attempting a WILD during a nap this after noon I kept getting the hypnogogic hallucination that my left eye kept opening and would immediately shut when i realized it. I wasn't sure if it was real at first but it kept getting stronger and stronger until it was a flash of a scene similar to my apartment. I found this very annoying as it was just in my left eye..
You can, you just need some practice staying aware and not accidentally falling asleep, I know that is my problem. Impatient is my second problem with this method, but still, this is my favorite method.
One reason is that we are not in REM when going to bed.

For some reason I have an easier time getting HI when I'm just about to go to bed at night. I barely get any when I've tried in the middle of the night. I guess that's just me, though.
Most people don't drop right into a dream when they first go to sleep at night. If you have a crazy sleeping schedule, or have missed sleep recently, you might. To WILD when you first go to sleep at night, you would have to remain aware, but asleep, and wait until a dream started. That might take 90 minutes! Much easier to only wait 5-10 minutes, later in the night with some good timing.
Can anyone explain to me why you can wild during naps, but not when you're about to fall asleep? I don't understand why this would be true?
You can WILD when going to bed at first. It just takes more time (to enter SP and a dream, can take up to 1 hour maybe) and practice than a WILD after some hours of sleep. You can WILD at naps because you enter right to the REM stage, where most dreams occurs.Quote:

ok this may seem unrelated to this topic but if i have a nap during the day i seem to have a lucid dream that night because everyother day i didnt have a nap i didnt have a lucid dream that night ive done this 5 times
