Just saying Hello
Hi everyone,
I've just started looking around for information on Lucid dreams after watching the special features doco on Dreams from the Inception movie and I've ended up here.
I haven't yet started my dream journal or tried any of the techniques properly but will be doing so shortly. However the last two nights I have gone to bed with the specific thought of wanting to have a lucid dream and the knowledge that whatever happens next will be a dream.
Both nights I've started dreaming and almost immediately i've recognised that it is a dream and have tried to take control, both times i've brought my arms up in front and clapped them together and started rubbing, but as soon as I realise that I'm almost in control I get what feels like an adrenilin boost and the dream goes away and I wake up.
I'm guessing this is me just getting a little over excited about the whole thing. Is this common for beginners? As I said before I'm going to start going through the tutorials and see if they help.
Thanks for reading.
Joe:)

Welcome to the forums Joe! It sounds like you are a natural but are having problems controlling your actual dreams. A lot of the time people's dreams are disrupted or abruptly ended due to a over amount of excitement, this seems to be your problem. Too overcome this problem you need to maintain a calm composer and know that you are within control, you cannot let your emotions or excitement gain the better of you. Good luck and if you have any more questions feel free to ask!

Yes it is very normal to get to excited and waked up in a dream. This is most people's biggest obstacle to gaining control of his/her dream. What I do to calm down is simply clear my mind ,and link myself to my dream how I do this I can not explain.
Welcome to dreamviews by the way!!
