Hello...
Hello, I’ve had a few lucid dreams in my life without knowing what they were or really giving them too much thought; my dreams are often very strange anyway. About two weeks ago one of my friends started talking about lucid dreaming and showed me this site. Since then I’ve been trying to become lucid again (it had been about a year since it happened).
Well anyway I had a LD yesterday morning! but it didn’t last for long at all. How many people can actually make their LD’s last more than a couple of minutes? How do you do it? Cos I think I become lucid when I’m at the point when I would normally wake from a dream, so as soon as it happens I’m fighting to stay asleep. It’s a right bugger!

:yumdumdoodledum: :yumdumdoodledum: Welcome Gaz! :yumdumdoodledum: :yumdumdoodledum:
Good news! The answer to your question has been discussed here many times. Just sit back and take a little while to read. There are many VERY experienced lucid dreamers here that are ready to help!

I thought id write about my latest LD.
The setting was Poland WWII (at least it felt like it was) my mum and I where travelling down a riving on a large boat, she was driving it and driving it very badly, kept crashing it into the bank and going far too fast. I wasn’t happy at all I kept saying “Mum for god sakes just let me drive” but she wouldn’t you know what mums are like.
Well anyway we arrived at this small town that had been wrecked by bombing. I can’t remember why we needed to get to this town but it was for some important reason, my dreams are always big quests sort of things.
As we entered the town we notice mortar fire, firing from the town into the hills and German voices shouting orders. We realised that the town was overrun with Nazi forces. I thought that this is not good and we need to get out of here! So we legged it. There was a big chase that lasted for quite a while, till we made it to some large hills. It was at this point I heard these words in my head “This is really detailed for a dream.” So I stopped and turned round, for some reason there was only one person chasing me even though an army was chasing a second before. I saw a little evil man and I said to him, I’m dreaming aren’t I?
He disappeared, it was at this point I became lucid I walked up a stone path into a small garden that was surrounded but four large walls. I thought yeah man I’m really dreaming I better do something. So I tried to fly, I jumped up but nothing happened and I just fell and hit the floor.
Ok well ill go exploring then, I tried walking out of the gate of the garden but I couldn’t, it was like I knew that if I went through the gate id wake up.
It was then the dream started to fade, so I started spinning and when I stopped everything was ok but my surroundings had not changed at all (I had read that spinning would do this) I thought, I need to do something, so I thought id meet some woman if you know what I mean. It was at this point two lasses walked through the gate, a blonde and a brunette, one of them said to me “We’re not the type of people you like” I said “why?” and put my hands on her shoulders. Then I woke up!! Bit wierd.
So I think next time I’m gonna stay away from the woman!
Another thing, I recon every time I’ve had a lucid dream I’ve been drinking the night before. Anyone else think that alcohol helps?
Also has anyone had a LD and woke up and it has been night rather than a time in the morning when they would normally wake up?

i was traveling down a river not a riving, if u didnt understand that  ive never been a great typer/speller

I can answer the alcohol part. Yes it can help, but keep it to a beer or two or maybe a couple of glasses of wine.
More than that and it messes up your REM cycles.

Trying to be intimate with anyone in almost any way makes me wake up almost immediately. A good debate, trying to make a move on someone, or even being told a secret can all wake me up pretty fast. I think sometimes you have to go about getting what you want in a different way. Its like when you are trying to buy something and get a discount, you never ACT excited or let on that you want the object, otherwise you dont get the discount.

Are you Brit? Just wonderin...

Welcome
:D Gaz, Helllo from howetzer. It was quite odd When your avatar came up on the screen I had a CD with random songs on it - simotaniously my guitar gently weeps came on. AM I Dreaming, while my guitar gently weeps.( I'm a great speller as well.)
I have noticed with interactions in dreams you are better off letting the seens play out on their own rather than try to manipulate them. Physical interactions are tough, I always get to excited and lose my lucidity.

Hello yeah I’m a Brit, I’m from York if you know where that is? Cheers for the advice. I think next time I have a lucid dream, im not gonna attempted to do much just take things slowly. The only problem is having another one now! I’ve been trying to become lucid through using the WILD method, Unsuccessfully. But hopefully ill have another LD soon. I hope!
It Must have been funny, John Lennon’s face appearing on your screen, Howetzer. At the same time as a bealtes song begining.
