Confused Newbie
Hey. I'm Tony. I'm 15 and I have no idea why I'm interested in dreaming, I just am. Like for some reason lately I've been really into plants, and that like came out of nowhere. So anyways, I'm a newbie to Dreamviews and I have a question.
So I'm maybe 6 or 7 years old and I'm living with my grandma and her friend. And one night I stay awake way past my bedtime to watch this wierd movie with them about a robot dog that likes killing people I guess. So it really scared me. So I go to sleep and wake up in the middle of the night to the sound of scratching in the hallway. So I get up to see what it is and there's this dog. I don't remember perfectly but the closest thing I can think of was a white, maybe tan pitbull. It's in the middle of the hallway running towards me but it's not moving, like it's floating or something, but I can hear it's nails scratching the tile floor. So, being 6 or 7 years old, I run to my bed and call my grandma. She comes and asks what's wrong and I ask if she say the dog in the hallway to which she replies yes. As I get older she admits that she didn't see anything and that I was probably dreaming. But I know I was awake, and how could she have remembered me asking if she saw the dog if I really didn't ask her at all? In the 5 Stages of WILD in the tutorials section I saw that you can have have hypnogogic and visual imagery during relaxation and transition but I was already asleep.
Now comes the question.
Does anybody know or have any ideas about this?
Sorry if it's a little lengthy and thanks for taking the time to read it.
If you want any additional info just tell me.

Hey there Tony, welcome to DreamViews!
It's hard to say exactly what happened, but my best guess is that you were asleep up until the point where you ran back to your bed, then perhaps you actually woke up and called for your grandma.
I had some similar experiences when I was quite young -- one of them involved seeing a hand on a long arm (mechanical maybe?) coming out of the attic and pulling at the covers on my bed. I was screaming for my parents, and they came in. Of course, I was running a high fever at the time, and they ended up taking me to the hospital, so that could have been a fever-induced hallucination.
Anyway, I hope you stick around the site, and learn about lucid dreaming. It can be a lot of fun, and a great way to help overcome any fears you may have, or eliminate nightmares.

I reckon you dreamt that you heard scratching, jumped out of bed, saw a dog, ran back to bed. Then you probably woke up and yelled for your grandma. Im kinda new to lucod dreaming and stuff, but that is what I reckon.
