Some questions about realitychecks and meditation

Hello :)

I recently found interest in lucid dreaming, but i haven't tried having an actual LD yet. I have read a lot about it, so i'll hopefully be able to have a DILD soon, but i'm not 100% sure about how many reality checks you have to do, during a day.
I read that people who have done lucid dreaming a lot only have to do reality checks whenever, something out of the ordinary happens and that newbies will have to do it several times a day.
But how many realitychecks should i perform during a day?
I've read one place that you have to do it once every hour, another place very often and a third place around four times a day, which have left me confused.
How often should i do reality checks?

I have also read that meditating before going to sleep can help LD's occur more often, but the problem is i don't know how to meditate. So, do anyone have a great guide, tutorial or video on how to meditate, so i can really start LD'ing.

:welcome: to DV! You can do RCs as often as you like. Just make sure when you do them, it's not mindless checking. Actually try more than one check and look around to see if you're dreaming or not. Lucidity is all about awareness. It is easier to just pick a few things in particular to RC to. Like every time you walk through a door way. Or when you use the bathroom, if you do that in your dreams a lot. The best situations to RC to are when you're somewhere new and when something weird happens. Since that's what dreams are mostly like. After you log enough dreams though, you can look for dream signs and RC whenever you see one in waking life. As for meditation, just google it and see what you get. Good luck!

Edit: I'll just tell you some basics haha. Find a place where it's quiet and you won't be disturbed. Sit crossed legged with your back straight. Just focus on your breath. Try not to think or follow and thoughts. Just let them come and go without any judgement. You can look up different types of meditation or alter your way of meditating. I like to do it with my eyes closed. Whatever works for you.

When you're a meditating are you listening to music and where is a good place to find (free), relaxing meditation music? :)

I don't listen to music when I meditate, but I believe there are some tracks made for meditation. I suggest a google search haha No problem on the answer! =D
