Newbie with 2 WILD's in 1 night
Hey there. I found this site after doing a google search on "dream forums", as I recently had somewhat of a frightening experience. First off, I thought it would be interesting to note that I rarely remember any dreams at all, maybe one every month or so. The last two dreams I had before finding this website, however, involved me abruptly waking up and feeling like I was going to die: my heart was racing, I felt like I was being electrocuted, my ears were ringing and I was too afraid to move. After reading for a few minutes on this website I probably couldn't have moved even if I had tried, since these were most likely me experiencing sleep paralysis.
Anyway, this first happened to me about a month ago. It happened again a few nights ago and I was seriously starting to become worried something may be medically wrong with me, so I figured I'd do a search and see if anyone else experienced things like this.
After feeling relief that this was "normal", I became intrigued about this whole "lucid dreaming" subject. I've done it before--when I was younger and having a bad nightmare, sometimes I'd realize I was dreaming and simply close my eyes hard and open them quickly and I'd be able to wake myself up to escape the nightmare. I'd never actually tried to control anything in my dreams though.
After spending a few hours on this site, I figured I'd give it a shot. I didn't expect much on my first night, and sure enough I didn't remember a single dream. The next night was interesting though. Normally I get up at 6am for my clinical rotations at 8am, but on Tuesdays I have a class at noon so I don't set an alarm until 10. I accidentally left my alarm on for 6 as well though, and it woke me up right in the middle of a dream. I hadn't become lucid during it, but it was the first dream that I can recall having in a long time. I felt like I should get up and make my first entry into a dream journal, but realized I didn't have anything immediately accessible to write it down on, so I just rolled over and fell back asleep.
However, as I was trying to fall asleep, I suddenly started to feel a deep heaviness come over me, almost a warming sensation. I figured I'd just go with it and suddenly I was in a familiar hallway at the hospital--I had just initiated a WILD. It was a little foggy and was over almost instantly as I woke right back up after realizing what happened, but it was interesting nonetheless. I fell asleep and woke up a few hours later, needing to go to the bathroom.
After getting back into bed and laying there for a little bit, that same "heaviness" came over me again. I'm not even sure my eyes were closed at this point, because I remember looking at my bedsheets, feeling that heaviness and then "seeing" my blue sheets sort of "transform" into the grass of my front yard. This time I wanted to try my best to stabilize it, but I was almost afraid to try and move in the dream because I thought I should give it a few more seconds to "sink in". I think this may have been more harmful than helpful though, as again it was over instantly as I snapped out of it and the front yard turned back into my bed. It was an amazing experience, especially since I didn't really read a lot into the WILD stuff as I figured this was more of an advanced technique, something I wouldn't try until after many successful DILD's. I didn't even know if that "heaviness" was something common to a WILD until after reading a thread on this website. I'd post the link but I apparently can't until I've been a member for 7 days, lol. I suppose that's a good thing though to keep the spammers at bay ;)
So anyway, that's my extremely long introduction, haha. I tend to be a little descriptive when it comes to internet forums. I'm definitely interested in honing this new skill and am eager to learn more about all of this stuff.
