Anxiety going into SP?
Hello everyone,
I tried my first WILD attempt a couple nights ago, just to see what it was like. After about 15 minutes of counting my breathes and relaxing, i began to feel really heavy like a metal blanket was on top of me, and got very warm. My heart started pounding uncontrollably and after a while of this i just gave up on my wild attempt, and tried to go to sleep. I was still really anxious, and every time I tried to sleep my heart starting ferociously pounding. This went on for about 3 hours, even after i tried getting up and reading a couple chapters of a book or something to calm me down. Im wondering if this has happend to other people trying to do a wild and how i can overcome the anxiety.
Thanks in advance

Yes this is very common when you enter Sleep Paralysis. It's just something your going to have to overcome when entering SP. You can always try different methods of lucid dreaming to get around it such as the MILD and DILD techniques.

I just starting working on WILD and SP was something that scared my at first but as you attempt it more and expericence it I learned that its just something that occurs everytime you sleep...I just tried to focus more on my breathing and just relax knowing that it was a natural thing.
Good Luck

having difficulty breathing is what usually destroys my WILD sessions.
I had 2 "close calls" using WILD, I started vibrating and hearing the rattling noise
but I couldn't breath through it, I felt like I'm being drowned or in high altitude,
and I guess my body noticed that and regressed back to semi-paralysis.
out of all the techniques, WILD is the most intriguing to me,
because I think it might be the base for other amazing experiences
like astral projections and OBE's, so it's really about subduing your body and taking charge,
which is A. a cool challenge, and B. a really exciting way to enter lucidity,
I really hope to find a way to overcome these setbacks...

When you feel the onset of SP try to remember that it's a natural process which happens each time you sleep; nothing can and nothing will go wrong. Try to relax and it'll be fine.
Good luck ^_^

I know exactly how you feel. A few weeks ago when I started trying to LD I got halfway through a WILD then started panicking, I gave up on it but for the rest of the night I was scared and excited. The beginning of learning to LD was the hardest bit because the excitement of it all made me lose a lot of sleep.

Thank you all for your replies! I am going to continue and try and get used to the sensations

I use to have this problem too, but it happened more often when I became lucid through a DILD. I would get like really excited at the fact that I was dreaming. This doesn't happen anymore, it went away with practice.
