      Self-hypnosis?

Someone said he would put himself into a state of hpynosis, a sort of zone-out state where he could remember his dreams. I would find this particularly useful since when I dont get much sleep I usually can“t remeber many dreams either. Does anyone know a good method to do this?

I just relax, listen to music, or watch TV and the dreams just randomly come to me.

I have been doing that for years. I can put myself under very quickly. I started by applying techniques for hypnotizing others on myself. I would relax each part of my body one at a time and imagine myself on a cloud sinking closer to earth or something like that. Now I am trained and don't have to think about it, it just happens.

When I first started I would make make audio tapes that I would play to hypnotize myself or inspire LDs. I would attempt to send myself on adventures around the world.

The hardest part about self hypnosis as a tool to search memories is not putting yourself to sleep. That is where making a tape can be handy because you can keep yourself on track and wake yourself up when done.

I have never trained but have a natural gift for hypnosis so it may be easy for me.

I allow myself to enter a certain state when I wake up, though it is not a form of self-hypnosis by ANY means. My dad wakes me up in the mornings (nice deal -- it helps when you don't use an alarm clock). Then he leaves and gives me ten minutes (not very generous, but any more and he'd have to get up earlier) to run over my dream and write down the main points in my journal. If I have more to record than that, I write it down while I'm nreakfasting or in the car on the way to school (as I chose not to drive -- because of dreams, actually).

I digress. At any rate, that ten minustes does a world of good. Not only is it a state of mind where dream recall is effortless, but it also allows for a smooth transition from waking to reality, which has the ability to translate the inherent peace and goodness I experience in lucid dreams into waking life. It also makes it easier for me to effortlessly manipulate my surroundings in REAL life.

A note about the state I'm in -- don't try to force anything if you can't remember you're dream. It makes it more difficult to remember, and it tends to make you cranky. Instead, try to remember the nature of the dream -- the feeling it gave you, et cetera. Let your mind float around in that, and you will probably come across a detail of your dream that will make you remember. If nothing else, record what feeling the dream induced, since this is important in mapping sleeping cycles.
It is important that we do not judge these few unbiased moments of our lives, but take them as they are. There is no nightmare for the lucid dreamer, nor no shadows on the mind.

Oh! I quite have nothing to add... but I do have a question... when making Auto-Hypnotic Dream Tapes I could never quite decide which would be better -- to use the First Person (I will blah blah blah), or the Second Person (you will blah blah blah). Which way did you decide?

Yeah! Good question! I made a tape today to see if it could induce LDs through subliminal messaging today and I“ll test it when I got to sleep (which will be in about 5 minutes) but I did in second person, cuz I įlways talk to myself that way, I guess.
