*Sigh* there is a topic that lists all these meanings, but I guess I can go through them quickly:
WILD- Wake Induced Lucid Dream
DILD- Dream Induced Lucid Dream
WBTB- Wake Back To Bed
SP- Sleep Paralysis
HI- Hypnagogic Imagery
DC- Dream Character
DG- Dream Guide
REM- Rapid Eye Movement (basically, the stage of sleep you have most vivid dreams. 5'th stage)
NREM- Non-REM
DEILD- Dream Exit Induced Lucid Dream
Hope that helps you out, and welcome to the forums.
There is a list of terms thread/page somewhere but whatever:
WILD: Wake Induced Lucid Dream- Lucid dream induction methods in which you maintain awareness while transitioning from a waking state to the dream state. You are lucid from the start of the dream.
DILD: Dream Induced Lucid Dream- Lucid dream induction methods in which you realize at some point in a dream that you are dreaming.
SP: Sleep Paralysis- This is when you become aware of REM atonia (the paralysis of muscles during rapid eye movement sleep). It usually occurs when entering or exiting the dream state. Intense hallucinations are possible.
HH/HI: Hypnogogic Hallucination and Hypnogogic Imagery (spelling?)- These are the hallucinations which can appear prior to the onset of sleep. They are often experienced when attempting WILD methods.
DC: Dream character- Any character (regardless of species or shape) you encounter in a dream.
REM: Rapid Eye Movement- Most of our dreams take place in REM sleep. It is called REM because our eyes flicker around "rapidly" during this phase of sleep.
NREM: Non-REM- This refers to the other phases of sleep. Some are significantly deeper (with respect to brain activity) than REM. When you WILD you want to go directly into REM sleep because NREM sleep could very easilly disrupt awareness.
DEILD: Dream Exit Induced Lucid Dream- A type of WILD in which instead of fully waking up, then attempting to fall back asleep into a dream, you do not move when you wake up from a dream, and attempt to re-enter a dream while still in REM-atonia. Sleep paralysis might be experienced.
Just a brief summary of the terms. In case there is still confusion between SP and REM-atonia, REM-atonia occurs every night and prevents you from acting out your dreams. When you become aware of this paralysis it is called Sleep paralysis.
Thanks.. -confusing though XD-
Any other words I shld know? I felt like there's more to these.
