A Norwegian newbie says hi..!

... I think I just found my second home! What an awesome place this seems to be! And there's even a great deal of activity here - I love it!

Who am I?
Well, a norwegian girl in her late 20ies who's been able to recall her dream for as long as she can remember. Also remembers the colors, clothers, buildings and other surroundings, smells, light, and a great deal of the conversations of the dreams. Though I rarely write them down. Too many details!

I've realized that there's often a connection between my dreams and my clearaudience. And that's what I'm here for - to explore that a bit more, share and hear other peoples stories. Learn. Teach. Experience. Enjoy.

Hi, welcome to the forum. Thanks for commenting on my DJ (dream journal). Yes, this site is very active, that's what first appealed to me. You're lucky that you remember the details of your dreams already. Unless you want to remember your dreams in the future after you've forgotten them, I think you might be one of those people who doesn't need a DJ. Do you have lucid dreams already?

I see that most people in here use LD as a tool to explore their imagination. How wild can you get, what can you do, being the superhero you always wanted to be, or just lurking in the shadows sneaking up on your neighbours..

I use LD a bit differently. For me it's a add-on to my other gift, clairaudience, combinded with my ability to do distance-healing. Ok, I know - this probably sound a bit crazy, huh? Point is - I use LD as a tool to help others.

It's a way for me to travel around the world, to places I've never been, to people I've never met - but who've requested my help. I get to see their surroundings/enviroment, how they live, what's inportant for them. And that's a great way of getting to understand them better and to see how/where the problem arised from. After the LD, I can recall how furnitures were placed in a room, the colors, what was on the stove from the smell of it, the layout of the house or street. I always get confirmed by the person it's about, that I were correct.

Because my LD dreams always seem to happen in the present. I mean, there's no difference in time of the "real world" and in my LDs. The time is the same. And ofcourse, I'm also always fully aware of that I'm actually dreaming. Wouldn't be a LD without :P

I just read about WILD, and were quite suprised. It seems that I do that often - I've just never knew that that's what it's called. From how I understood WILD, that would be -my- normal way of entering a dream, doing a LD. And a regular LD to be something special. Weird... I kinda got lost in all the different techniques to have a wild, as for me, it just happens. I never think about it, never really plan it. I mean, I know that I'm going "out", but I don't ever think of how. I just.. do?

Anyone familiar with Astral projection? What would be the difference between Astral traveling and a WILD?

Thanks for the explanation, that's fascinating. I had heard of clairvoyance before but not clairaudience or clairsentience. That's particularly interesting to me because I've studied acoustics, auditory perception and Buddhism a great deal. I previously said "good luck lucid dreaming" to you. It sounds like you are already quite experienced, probably much more than I am. The funny thing about me is that I'm extremely knowledgeable from reading about it for 25 years, but I've only had 34 LDs in that time. That doesn't bother me too badly though, I cherish each novel experience.

You said you got a little lost with all the WILD techniques. I would just simplify it to mean you remain conscious while falling asleep clear into the dream, therefore starting the dream lucid from the very start. I have never succeeded with this technique. Every one of my LD's have occured after the dream already started.

As for Astral Travel, I recommend you read Stephen LaBerge's book "Lucid Dreaming". It and "Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming" are generally agreed to be the gold standard for information about LDing. In it, he discusses Astral Projection and notes that it is a controversial topic. Lucid Dreaming has been scientifically proven to those that doubted. Astral Projection unfortunately lacks ample scientific evidence to be agreed upon as a way to have authentic remote perception. I'm not saying it isn't possible, and neither is LaBerge. He just notes that there aren't enough cases of validated remote perception with Astral Travelers to convince the scientific community. His position is that Astral Projection is typically a LD that is perceived to be an OBE (out of body experience). This is due to the fact that the vast majority of remote viewing tests on people have not turned out to be authentic perceptions. That isn't to say accurate remote perceptions haven't occured, as you yourself stated. What I'm saying is the accomplishment has not been done under controlled conditions enough to make it into mainstream science like LDing has.

Here's the interesting part. Not only are there a few accounts of verified accurate remote viewing, but some people on this forum report having waking OBE's which they differentiate from OBE's they've had in a LD. I recommend you seek out those people.

Oh my... There are SO many different terms here which I've barely heard of before, trying to keep my tounge in place :P Like - what is remote viewing pr. definition? Is that what I do?

espsika: Not really sure HOW I can help? It seems like there are heaps of tutorials on this site which should be useful. My english isn't perfect and I am just learning myself all these terms here and there. I'm truely a newbie myself, as for the theoretical part.

Ok, you may mock me for this, but my WILDs - if that's what they are, that is.. always and only happens when "someone" knocks on my souldoor. By that I mean that I get a very urgent feeling of that I need to lay down. And it always happen when I am alone. Can be any time of the day, but only when I'm alone. Hm. Anyway - I lay down, and within seconds I'm out on a travel. I am fully aware of it, but I also have all of my senses with me. Meaning I wouldn't hear it if a clock were ticking loudy in the room I were laying in - but I would hear a clock ticking if the clock were in the same room as me IN the dream. Makes sense, huh? ;) It always happens very quickly - partly because when I feel this urgent need to lay down, my body is already prepared for it's "flight". That isn't something I can teach others, as even I don't control it. It NEVER happenes when I want to.
I can have regular Lucid dreams and be in the control, but not WILDs... How strange.. I mean, I AM in control as I know what's comming and can decide what to do once I'm in - but I'm not able to give myself that urgent feeling, knowingly..

Are these WILDs? Ore could they be as you said - waking OBE's? Gaah! I'm SO confused!!

These travels, as I prefer to call'em until I find a satisfying term, always seem to have a purpose of which I am not aware of until afterwards.
An example: I get this urgent feeling of laying down, and I do so. Within seconds I'm "out". Last time that happened, I were drawn to a hospital in Norway. I am then standing in a room and I see a friend from internet (never met in RL) standing next to a bed. She's holding the hand of a man in bed who I assume is her grandfather. The room has a incredible warmth and feeling of love in it. So strong, so intense! I notice his facial features, what she's wearing, how she has her hair, how the room looks like - cutains, furniture, baggage, etc and so on. I am then drawn back, and I wake up. Not in a dream but were I lay down. I contacted the girl online, and asked if that scene sounded familiar to her. She replies a bit shocked that that was her very last moment with her grandfather before he died, while she held his hand. And all my observations were spot on.

So - what term would a experience of this kind get?

I do believe yours is a mixture, since it seems you're transforming your Wake-induced Lucid Dream into an Off-body experience. One might even say you're turning your dream into an astral portal, with which you travel across the world into other people's dreams and memories, which you already explained.
My, such an interesting person. You see, much of my research was initiated by my love of the unexplainable. Unnatural, strange, even, one might say. It seems you're...I'm going to create a term right now, okay? It seems you're a Memory Traveler.

In all ends, it sums it quite nicely what you described in your last post, I think.

Now, for the clock thing, that's how it works, really. Let's say you have a ...Reality meter, of some sorts, in every dream. When this meter is down, you may feel your body laying in your bed/couch/floor/elephant, hear the sounds in your room/safari, and even understand what's going on. When that, eh, meter is on it's highest, you can only see your dream, hear within it, and understand it. Everything else is shadowed by your experience.

About Astral travelling, one of the first things I'd hoped to try myself was to project my soul to other parts of the world, to know them without really been there. Much like you seem to do. Can you remember a time where you were not so experienced in doing it? For you to describe the sensations, what you felt when you were about to travel. I feel that if I understand it, I may be able to replicate it myself. Or at least, have a better chance of doing it my way.

Now, about your clairaudience, that's quite interesting. I myself had some sort of paranormal ability, but only as a child. I had clairvoyance, of some sorts. Not in the ability to see the future, or to judge other people's feelings - which I can, sometimes -, but I could see what others normally couldn't. The most memorable experience was the one where I saw a...Spirit? Ghost? Holy Demon? Heck, to this day I'm not sure what I saw that night. But it was awesome, and I'm quite sure it was not a dream. My grandmother also says that when my Grandfather died, she and my mother caught me talking with him in the living room. Sadly, I don't quite remember that, hm.

But I do believe Memory Traveler, or Mind Traveler is a nice term, isn't it? Quite unique, yes.

Kamus: Oh my - you make it sound like I'm doing something really difficult like it was easy peasy..

My problem is, that when it happens, it just does. I have never been able to do it on command. which is something I'd like to do. I'm just afraid that learning all these techniques and really forcing it to happen in a certain way, may destroy my already "buildt-in" ways of doing it, if you get me?

I got an email from dreamviews with your original unedited post. So I'm going to reply to a comment you made that others don't see, because you deleted it. The main thing about WILD and DILD or any other technique is that they are all paths to the same place - a Lucid Dream. Once you achieve consciousness in a dream it doesn't matter how you got there. I'm not very up on astral travel, because I've only read about it, and I tend to agree with Dr. LaBerge's assessment of it. That doesn't mean I dismiss it as impossible. My main point is this. If someone experiences astral travel and has perceptions that turn out to be accurate, then that is a huge deal. I think however that the vast majority of perceptions from astral travel do not hold up to scrutiny. Those would then fall into the category of lucid dreams that were interpreted as astral traveling.

As to your last question above, I don't see a problem. In my thinking any ability you hone is beneficial. If you improve your ability to induce and control lucid dreams, I can't imagine that hampering your other experiences. If I were in your shoes, I would wish to master both. That way you would have a solid understanding of both and how each relates to the other.

I'm sure you've found it, but this forum I believe has a place specifically to discuss astral travel. Hopefully you will find some good info there.

Mental: I just felt a bit stupid after the original post, that's why I deleted some of it. And you do have some points. I have no intention of interpret anything to what it's not. If I did that, why am I here then? Certainly wouldn't be to learn. But I am here to learn ;) Just didn't wanna make myself to an airhead :( I havn't found that area yet, so I wasn't aware of that forum. Thanks for noftifying^^

It's time for me to understand WHAT I do, and how to become more aware of it, instead of just doing it without really knowing how. I appreciate your comments. Really. I'm currently reading "The path of the dreamhealer" - but I'll come back for the books you mentioned. Thanks :D

Besides, maybe my understanding of LDs, WILD, OBEs and Astral Traveling will change during my time here at DreamViews. I only know what I have experienced, and it's kinda new to me to put label on'em. Maybe I mix up the terms. Either way - I understand that there's much much more to dreams then I ever would have imagined. Glad I found this place!
