Just how long can a person stay awake before they start experiencing the "Crazies". I have even heard "voices" telling me to pack it all in. However if I listen to them I won't get the Grades.

Well for one, when are your exams? Cramming isn't a good idea because your brain will probably forget most of what you read, anyways. Also, I have never not slept a whole night.... but after 2 days you'll get really messed up, and with three or so it gets dangerous.
I guess the voices were really me or a part of me but like I said if I would have listened to them I would have Flunked. It even crossed my mind that they were "Negative' external forces. I really did have to do "Battle" with them just to stay focussed.
Aha, well good luck winning the "war" with them.
Anyways, good luck.
Do you mean I should have just "let go" or what ?. Don't mean to be offensive, but your the expert. What were they.
That sounds like me getting up to go to school in the morning. :?
I think that's just your imagination :PQuote:

PS: I'm no expert.
Ok. I can go with that but these "voices" sounded like the people you would not want to meet. It is strange that our imaginations have the habit of bringing up our worst fears. ( As an afterthought)............How could one totally eliminate these "phantoms" and is it possible or are they just something we have to put up with.
From my experience, the best way to get voices out of your head is to see just how rediculous they are and laugh at them.
But if these are truly EXTERNAL forces, as you say, this might prove difficult.
On the other hand, I would caution you not to go for cramming, ESPECIALLY not the night before the test. Why? Because YOU NEED SLEEP! Otherwise you cannot POSSIBLY store and process everything you read. The best thing you can do is a short but thorough study session right before you go to bed, and to get a good night's sleep on the night before the test.
I know it sounds old-fashioned, but it works.
Luckily my exams are now in the past. I ignored all the good advice about long term memory etc. It was not something I would want to do again in a hurry. (Especially those Bloody voices in my head).
Dear Boat,
it is so wonderful for people to give you advice to get plenty of sleep only to wake up without having gone over your Course Material. What!? Easy advise for them to give, as it will be you who flunks out. do they really suppose that you will retain nothing of what you have read, in such a state of desperation. Of course, you will remember! That is what you read it for. When I was young I would read books for night after night -- I was accustomed to strings of all nighters, and I STILL remember much of what I read. Many students stay up the entirety of Finals Week, and they are the ones with the highest GPA's. It is the flunkouts who get a good nights sleep.
But, yes, after a certain amount of Sleep Deprivation your Dreams begin to come through while you are awake -- this accounts for the occasional hallucination and the temporary insanity of hearing voices. Simply work through it all. If a voice tells you to kill anybody, just disregard it and keep studying. After you get through exams and get a good 18 hours of sleep, you will be back to normal.
Yet, you can overdo it. Try to stay awake naturally, or with caffeine. Those who take amphetomines may be able to stay awake more effortlessly, but they will burn out sooner than those who stay awake from sheer anxiety and desparation to get good grades after not having touched a book for the entire semester. I knew one young man who overused amphetomines and thought an essay exam went quite well, when actually his exam book was full of an indecypherable scribble. Luckily the Professor allowed him to retake the exam with only a slight penalty the next week.
Easy guys. Our study group eat a lot of oranges during cramming, I mean like we go through a whole case in one night (you've got to eat something). We have about an hr. of sleep a nite for the whole week and the only down side is that we are still sleepy :D . The important thing is that the good stuff stays in your head for the exams. Thank me later. 8)
I wish i had voices talking to me and telling me what to do, that would rock and bring some excitement to my day.... Eating oranges is cool too, if I could eat oranges all day and have voices telling me to go to sleep in an evil way, that would just rock!!!
Maybe I just need to eat some mushrooms and eat a bunch of ACID, its a lot easier than not sleeping for 3 days
