I haven't tried to lucid dream many times, but in all my previous dreams of my relatively short life, I am unable to control myself in the dream. It's that simple, almost like I'm watching but not doing. All the people I've spoken with act as though they can just lift their hands in a dream and do a reality check.
You can't do that if you can't move yourself.
Am I normal? Can you overcome this?
And the ultimate question

This is all about awareness. You must know that it is a dream, realize that you are dreaming, really be present in that moment. That is so important. Feel yourself there, be aware of yourself and of your surroundings. Just be present.
Then you can start controlling it.
Step 1, gain awareness of your waking life. It's not about how many reality checks you do, it's about how often you remember to ask yourself whether or not your dream, and how sincere that consideration is. You can never be sure.
I forgot to mention something in the op.
I can't make conscious decisions.
it is completely like I'm watching a movie.

That's because you're dreaming and believe it's reality, when it's not. The point of reality checks is to determine whether you're dreaming or not. Trust me, when you do a reality check in a dream you will usually find something off, and turn into a lucid dream. Once that happens it's a matter of stabilizing and controlling your dream.
So you just hope you become lucid?
You have no control over if your dream self checks its hand for abnormal fingers?
Edit: I had a dream last night where I walked around my school. Be floor plan was so amazingly different... but I didn't become lucid. Even when I left one classroom and went to another to take a different class even though both of the classes were in the same room.
Could I be lacking the level of consciousness because my consciousness is too tired because I'm only trying for lucidity at night after a full day.

That happens a lot. Strange things may happen in dreams but unless you're checking them intentionally (with effort), you won't become lucid.Quote:

I love that comparison. Usually in a normal dream, things feel like it just happens. I'm there but not really. It's as if I'm acting purely on instinct and have no control over what I do. When I become lucid and consequently stabilize my dream, I get the awareness and I get the control. Then I can do whatever I want.Quote:

After four dreams last night, I hit a false awakening one
Lucidity is a feeling I cannot describe.
As my dream self false awaken. I am on my bed looking at the skylight.
There was this weird contraption that showed me how long I had slept and how long my mother slept.
Hers read "maximum 25 minutes. Last 2." I frowned and look at mine.
Mine spun like a roulette machine and read "fall"

I stabed my finger through my palm and I became lucid. I rubbed my palms together to no avail. had difficulty seeing, but I checked y hands and sure enough, they were all odd.
Not sure how I got to the living room, I think I kinda flew. Landing at my couch, I tried to leap through the roof but kinda bounced off, landing on top of he couch. I jump to the roof as fast as I could trying to blow through the roof
I wake up with my cat walking and kneading me.
Oh well.
Time to try again!
Sounds like in the OP you were aware that you were dreaming, but not in control? This is pretty common. Sounds like you were in the lowest level of lucidity. There are many levels of lucidity ranging anywhere from thinking that it could possibly be a dream but not being sure and lacking control. All the way to being so aware of your state you can even think about waking life and you can change the dream however you please. It takes a lot of practice to get to the upper levels of lucidity, most beginners have trouble being completely in control of their actions. I had a lucid early on that I couldn't walk straight. I was forced to wander around the dream like a drunkard :lol:
Sounds like in your last post you were in control of yourself though, grats! It will only get easier from here!
