Had my first LD last night

Ya I'm pretty stoked but I have a couple questions. Is it possible to dream about having a lucid dream? hah Here I will explain my experience so you know what I mean.

I was driving down a road and I had some sort of collision with another car that caused me to swerve off the road and then up and embankment. This caused me launch very high in the air so I started to freak out but then I said or thought to myself "wait this isn't possible I must be dreaming". As soon as I said that the car slows to a halt in midair and I step out of it and walk away. From here I start flipping around and doing kung fu type stuff, but my decisions are as clear as I thought they would be while ld'ing It was almost like trying to make decisions while half asleep. I guess that makes sense though hah. Then huge walls formed around me with cubby holes in them. There was a ninja type person in each of them. As soon as I started to fight them I sorda slipped back into an unconscious dream state. Afterwards I dreamt about a lot of other stuff but none of it was lucid.

I always exected that you would wake up once it was over but I just started to dream normally again. Is this normal? Even if it wasn't ever lucid it was still a pretty awesome dream.

Yes you were lucid :D But there's a kind of scale to lucidity. On the lower end, you know you're dreaming, but aren't fully aware and your thoughts are clouded and you may act without thinking. On the higher end of the scale, the dream is clearer, and you think more about things and it is much more realistic.

So, I say you had a semi-lucid. A dream on the lower end of the scale. You can also forget it's a dream and lose control, leading you back to non-lucidity.

That happens all the time, you just loose your lucidity because you forgot about it. Even the best LDers do that once in a while. Sounds like you had a really awesome experience though :D

Yup, I agree with the above posts. It's normal, especially in the first few dreams of a beginner. Just try to remember/focus! :cheeky:

Congrats! I also agree with what everybody else said. Hopefully #2 will be your chance to fully gain control and experience the incredible.

One of my finest earlier lucid dreams started with me announcing to myself that I was lucid. I thought of the fact my body was physically asleep in my bed. I yelled loudly to my wife, knowing full well she wouldn't here me because my physical mouth was paralyzed! That was a very empowering moment because I TRULY knew I was completely aware and in control.
