I've attempted WILD many times. I will usually fail due to disturbing hallucinations during the hypnagogic stage.
What I've always wondered is, what is the transition like? The part where you enter the dream world and become lucid?
I'm guessing it is quite ineffable and not easily put into words. I personally can't even fathom what it would feel like.
I've only gotten it to work once. But, I was just barely hanging on to consciousness. I felt dimly aware of floating in a dark void, and suddenly felt myself jerked upwards, and found myself lying in my bed in a dream, and I got up and explored.
It's awesome. And it's different for everyone because everyone enters the dream differently. For me the vibrations build until I know that I am fully in SP and ready to enter a dream. Then most of the time I will crawl out of my body, basically just getting out of bed like I normally would, but in a dream. It's a really cool experience, I hope you get success soon! The hallucinations get less scary the more you get used to em. I still get a feeling of dread every once in a while, but not every time like I did initially. I also enjoy those fearful moments now days ;).
I don't often feel vibrations, for some reason.
With a good WILD attempt, at some point I will feel that my body is completely relaxed. Sometimes I feel a "wave" of energy, or something, go through my body. Then I am able to move an arm, or my whole body without any effort, but it's not my physical body. Then I either sit up, roll, or float out of bed and go about my lucid dream.
sometimes a dream scene will form around me and I'm suddenly somewhere else.
It's an amazing experience, to be sure.
It sounds so damn cool! I've attempted WILD around 8 times now, I hope I get over my silly fears and transition one of these times.
I've attempted the WILD technique several time but with no avail. My first real attempt I had been laying in a bed for awhile trying to retain consciousness, and that's when I heard some unusual noises and some heavy footsteps (probably just nonsense now that I think back on it as I was expecting the hallucinogenic stage). This startled me and I opened my eyes... attempt ruined.
The second time I think I got closer. I started to feel the paralysis set in and the next few minutes were a blur. I got up to do the plug nose and breath in reality check and well, I think I was able to breathe. But my stupid self was so tired I failed to do any more tests or check my surroundings... and just went to sleep waking up the next morning as usual. I might have been on the verge of the dreamworld then but I will never know now.
I haven't tried it in awhile since then, so I hope to experiment with the WILD technique more soon. Maybe I will have a better story to tell next time I try.
I know this probably wasn't much help, but good luck to all your future WILD attempts. Please post back if you get any results. :lol:
My personal experience with SP:
I woke up, it was 5:30ish, so I decided to go back to sleep, since I didn't have school for another 2 hours. I woke up again around 6am, this is where it gets interesting...
Somewhere along falling asleep, I hear a loud buzzing in my ears. I immediately think "holy crap this is SP (I've never experienced it before)" so I sit still. After awhile the buzzing gets louder, so I get a little scared and try to turn them off. I hear it fading and think "wait... I waited months to hit SP I'm not gonna get scared now" and start relaxing again until the buzzing get's deafening.
All of a sudden, at the peak of the buzzing many things happened at once:
The buzzing stopped.
I sunk into my bed, it was a very strange feeling.
My neck stretched to lengths of around 3ft (felt like it) and I could feel it dangling on the side of my bed like an unstrung yoyo.
Then....
I woke up. I looked at the clock, it said 6:30. I was extremely disappointed, I was wondering what had gone wrong, everything happened the way it was supposed to... didn't it? After a minute or two of silent anger, I closed my eyes and went to bed. BUT the second I closed my eyes, I felt a weird shift, and opened them again. It was 6:17. I was dreaming... I just didn't bother to get out of my dream bed and do a reality check.
Probably the stupidest mistake I've ever made, and I will always regret not doing that reality check. Oh well, there will be more times.
That sucks. :( But at least you've probably learned from the mistake and will be more prepared next time.
I slowly sink into my pillow or roll out of my body
Lol, I've never even gotten that far. When I try to WILD I just sort of... sit there and nothing happens. Sometimes I lose feeling in my body parts, as if you were relaxing and they sort of sink into whatever you're lying on or sitting on but no hallucinations or anything. Last time I tried to WILD I was laying in bed for almost an hour and a half just in that relaxation state. Every now and then my breathing would start to get really rapid and shallow as my body parts seemed to disappear but that was about it.
Your probably not tired enough. Try waking up early with an alarm and then trying.
Don't move a muscle.
Keep something physical to focus on so you don't lose consciousness when you fall asleep, a knot in your bed, a fan in your room, even a piece of gum in your mouth

Last night I set my alarm and did a WBTB. I woke up, stayed up for about 50 minutes, then went back to bed.
The WILD was going nicely. No feelings of fear or anxiety. I kept imagining falling through my bed as I transition into the dream.
My whole body started to go numb. It began at my feet and worked it's way up... When it reached my face, it was a very strange feeling. It felt like my face was pressed against my pillow, but I could still breathe perfectly.
It happened. A couple minutes after my face became numb I fell through my bed. It was exhilarating, and I could see a landscape forming in my vision as I fell into the dream.
Then... to my demise, someone started hollering outside, and another person started their car. This startled me awake. I was extremely disappointed, but at the same time I was glad to experience a part of the transition.
Next time, I will go to bed much earlier and wake up in the early morning for my WBTB. When I was attempting to WILD today it was around that time of day where everyone in the neighborhood was waking up and doing things.
Sometimes in bed, and I get up. Other times I just spawn somewhere and do my business.
Wild is not my primary method, but that transition is very exotic. I have experienced the disturbing hallucinations as well. It's easy to say right now that it's no big deal. But as you've already realized it can be frustrating and unpleasant. Once you accept what you are experiencing and realize that nothing can be harmful it goes away on its own.Quote:
