Questions relating to my FIRST LUCID.

Hello everyone.

I had my first lucid dream this morning.

I was at a house naked for some weird reason. I thought to myself "I wonder if I could make myself run across the backyard without anyone noticing". I must have realized I was dreaming as I heard a loud ringing noise and i woke up. When I woke up (false awakening), i did an RC and found that it failed. I heard a loud ringing sound then I woke up (false awakening again) . Third time round, I did an RC again, it failed, but no loud ringing sound. So i got up, touched some stuff as fast as i could, performed more rc's. I jumped and found i was lighter than usual. Looked in a mirror (everything was blurry). Turned on a light (barely worked) and went into a hallway. This is all in a house I've never been in. The dream ended soon after that. (probably got woken up by my parents putting the kettle on:( ).

However, I could barely see anything in the dream. Everything was blurry and it was black around the edges around my eye. It eventually looked like a black piece of paper covering my eyes, and all i could see through was a word that was cut out. (couldn't read what it said). My touch was fine. Everything felt realistic.

Anyway. Does anyone have any tips about making lucid dreams look clearer or can point me to any good threads about it? During the dream, I was also really focused on doing stuff to stay in the dream as opposed to looking around at my surroundings and sensing things. Could this have helped make the dream hard to see?

Also, I was attempting a WILD when this dream happened. I didn't feel any sp and I didn't go straight into the dream fully aware of where i was. Does it still count as a wild, or did I just fall asleep during the wild and went into a lucid dream randomly?

There are some clarity increasing techniques that you should learn (these also help to stabilize the dream, so use them if the dream is starting to fall apart and you feel like you're waking up) Dream spinning (spin around in circles for a bit), hand rubbing (self explanatory), verbal commands (yell stuff like "INCREASE CLARITY!), focus on details in the dream.

And yeah, right after doing a reality check you should do some clarity techniques to get the dream nice and clear. Then you can focus on doing stuff, but don't focus too hard on any one task otherwise your mind might get to involved and you'll lose lucidity.

It's just like you said, you fell asleep naturally, otherwise you would have experienced the SP sensations and would have been directly inducted in the dream with lucidity. What you had is called a DILD. Attempting WILDs will increase your chances of having DILDs because you fall asleep with LDing on your mind.

Thanks for the advice.

I did spin around my dream as well as rub my hands and say to myself "I am in a dream, this dream is vivid" This is probably the reason why it lasted about 30 sec to a minute as opposed just 10 sec or less.

It didn't make the dream any clearer though.

Congrats on your first lucid! Some dreams will be unstable and unclear no matter how much you rub your hands. Most dreams clarity can be increased by doing so however, so just do it and hope you're in a dream with "potential". Or you can DEILD and hopefully enter a dream with much more clarity :) If you can, activate as many senses as possible. Sight, feeling, smell, touch and taste. The more the better!
