New and with a few questions.

Ok so before I got into lucid dreaming i had about 1-2 dreams a month but i got into it and have been doing a dream journal for a week and have had a dream everyday so far but some are very faint but its still a dream.
First Q: How long should I wait to start trying lucid dreams?

Also Q: I don't really understand dream signs and how to choose what is the dream sign of your dream. So if someone could explain that to me that'll be great!

Last Q: Does age affect ability to lucid dream? I'm 14.

You can start any time you want. Just don't stop dream journaling.

A dream sign is something that appears in a lot of your dreams. Maybe you see a particular friend a lot in your dreams. You should reality check every time you see them.

And I'm not sure about age but I think being younger actually makes lucid dreaming easier.

      Welcome to the forums.

Hi, welcome to DV Wave. =]

1.) You could start right away if you wish, it certainly wont hurt. Just keep in mind that if you don't have one for a few weeks or so, don't get stressed out over it. It may take while. Keep the effort up, but don't get disappointed if it doesn't work right away.

2.) Once you've recalled 15+ dreams, you can start looking for similarities between your dream world and real world. If you dream of hanging out with your friend Bob, whenever you hang out with him IRL do a RC. Some of my dreamsigns for example are particular friends, my grandmother's house, my old houses, University, smoking, etc. Those are things that pop up often in my dreams that I also visit in waking life frequently.

3.) Not at all. Not until you get into old age, if I recall, does the REM sleep begin to falter. In fact, I'd imagine starting younger will give you a slight edge. Imagination tends to be a bit more active and young teenagers, and more freeminded.

Good luck in your dreaming endeavors. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

      Start whenever you like.

Like Zebrah said. Keeping a dream journal not only improves you recall, but helps you to identify dream signs, which, when coupled with a RC can make you lucid.

How old you are affects the length of your REM cycle, which is equated to dreaming. Infants are in REM 50% of the time they are asleep, whereas the average adult spends about 20% of the time in REM. Obviously the longer you're dreaming, the better chance you have of becoming lucid (through a DILD). Regardless of that, anyone can become proficient at LDing, don't worry too much about stuff that you can't control.

Oh, and welcome to the forums

Being at school is a perfect dream sign. Now, every time you notice yourself at school (both in the real world, and dreams), perform a reality check.
