Lucid dreaming for 10 years? Wow, I'm not really experienced in LD but I don't think that you'd go do the things you do in LD in real life.
For helping part: Try to talk to him and ask him what's going on, and tell him that you need to know! (This is the case if you're absolutely sure he isn't having any psychological problems.)
