Been at it for about 6 months

Started attempting to become lucid about six months ago. I just had my fourth lucid dream. But the first that I was able to stay in the dream. When I realized I was dreaming after a reality check, I felt that I was melting. In my previous ld's, my attempts at staying by feeling my arm or some other sensation didn't work, This time, I started spinning. It felt like I was spinning in slow motion, but when it stopped, I was still dreaming, but in another setting. Though, I think I lost lucidity because after I woke up, I realized I was just walking around and doing things like it was just normal reality. I wouldn't even have woken up if someone didn't knock on my door and woke me up. I think. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

Hi! How hard have you been trying for the past 6 months? It's very individual how fast we learn, but anyone can do it. I'm sure that when you find the technique that suits you, you will have Lucid Dreams more frequently.

Spinning works for some people, but not all. Try rubbing your hands next time. As soon as you get lucid, start focusing on your senses to root yourself in the dream. KNOW you will be in the dream until you want it to end.

Also how good is your recall?

Spinning makes me lose lucidity. Try staring at your hands once you realize you're dreaming, I use this to increase clarity and stability. Grasping items or running your hands under water helps too. It's all about stimulating your senses and staying focused.

I got my first ld about 1 or 2 months after starting. Using periodic reality checks about every hour or less. It was memorizing. When I became lucid, everything became intensely bright. The walls and ceiling was blasting with colors. Then I woke up. I didn't become lucid again till about 2 months later. I think my periodic rc's became less frequent and I got distracted and it affected it. I started intensifying again recently. I learned about rubbing hands or holding my forearm to feel the sensation of my skin but it didn't work for me. Things just faded away and I woke up. One time after realizing lucidity, I actually fell down on my rump in a corner and I woke up. I guess I had to control my excitement. This last time was the only time I remained in the dream by spinning. The setting changed, and I was still in the dream, but I think I lost lucidity. My recall has become very good lately. I slacked off for a while with my dream journal but was still recalling most dreams very well. And some are doozies as far as the strangeness. When awoken, I beat myself up sometimes about not realizing it saying, "how could u not know THAT was a dream?" But I'll try the grasping of things or rubbing my hands next time. I also read about spinning and repeating the words, "this is a dream". Thanks for your help.
