Need ld help!
I've been trying to lucid dreaming for 7 weeks. I tried doing reality checks a few times every day for about 3 weeks before giving up on it, I also tried repeating to myself every night before I go to bed " I will have a lucid dream" My problem is I can't realize I'm dreaming, I used to realize that I was dreaming all the time by accident before I discovered lucid dreaming. PLEASE HELP ME!

Continue keeping up with the DJ, having good recall will improve your chances of having a DILD. You should should also increase the number of RCs you do throughout the day to 20 or more. It will help increase your awareness. There's also the chance that you're in a dry spell right now.
Doing WBTBs to increase your awareness also works wonders in terms of DILDs. Check out the different DILD tuts on here for more information. KingYoshi also created a really good All Day Awareness thread which helps with DILDs as well.
Welcome to the forum :D

It's weird
whenever I TRY to lucid dream the best outcome I get is me remembering my dream, but back before I knew about lucid dreaming I would always wake up mad because I was always awakened in the middle of the night because I would realize that I was dreaming. It's like the only way I can lucid dream is if I don't try, which is kinda impossible.

DUDE!
Be PATIENT
It has taken me 2 years to really start having constant lucid dreams. You need to be patient. Just stick with your method and keep you dream journal. I felt just like you in those two years. But do not give up dude. It WILL come to you. Also i kinda had the same thing.
You can always take a break if you are just getting too frustrated. When you are done with your break ( or just do it now) just hit the restart button. Just completely restart and start with a clean mind.
Plus you need to really BELIEVE that you can lucid dream. Don't get frustrated it will come to you, and when it does. You will be very glad you kept at it for that extra week or that extra year. Don't get frustrated just keep at it and DO NOT GIVE UP!!!!!!!
Good luck man!
Hope this helps!

Yeah and also with regards to your mantra " I will have a lucid dream" it is quite passive, so you should make it something more forceful and immediate like "i lucid dream" or " I do reality checks in dreams". Welcome to the site and good luck :)

Take a magic marker, write RC on your wrist, and do one every time you see it. Should end up being hundreds of times, that usually can fix a dry spell, or give you your first.

P.S. I naturally wake up in the middle of the night around 3 or 4 every night, if that will help you provide me with advice.

You probably need to start doing reality checks more than a few times a day. The day before my first DILD, I easly did 50 reality checks. It is especially important to do them when your mind has been occupied for awhile. This will train to so that when you have a dream of something keeping you occupied (eg.If you are dreaming that you are typing a story or watching TV) you still remember your RCs.
RCs don't have to be hard and take a few minutes. I can do a very effective one in about 10 seconds. Note that nobody can know your doing this because it just runs though a simple thought process. Here is the procedure I run though whenever I decide to do a reality check. First, I ask myself: Am I on auto pilot? Am I just going about my day without noticing everything? If I am on auto pilot, try to perk yourself up. Take a few seconds to look around and take in everything from your senses. Once you have done that, look around for anything different. If you have a regular workday at an office or in school, this works well. Try to notice everything. The posters on the wall. The color of your friend's hair. The way the air conditioner sounds Etc. Etc. Etc. I find this important because my dreams can take place in near-perfect copies of places I've been. If you want to learn more about this, check out King Yolshi's forum on ADA.
