New future lucid dreamer
Hello, I've joined this site after lurking for a while and reading some stuff, I really got interested in lucid dreaming since I had this experience, it was a few weeks ago I simply went to take a nap it was like 2 pm or so, suddenly I found myself within a dream.
I was on the street somewhere and there was this dog following me (the dog was just staring at me passively and it was a cute dog.. Lol), then I looked at my hands and asked myself... "Hey wasn't I sleeping?" <--- wait WHAT?... I asked myself that in a completely normal mood then when I realized what I said I was shocked and excited, then my hands suddenly started to disappear  then I woke up.
In the past I used to wake up a lot between sleep cycles, I had a lot of nights where I would dream but I didn't really mind about it, but this dream was so sudden it came out of nowhere and I wasn't really interested in lucid dreaming before it happened but now I'm here :D and that's it, but it makes me wonder, can lucid dreams just randomly happen?
Oh and also I started a dream journal since I had that "lucid dream" I've been trying some techniques like WILD with WBTB but the farthest I've got to is where you start watching those illusions (hypnagogic imagery right?) and I'm also doing RCs and trying to get into the habit of being aware of my environment so I can try DILD as well
And finally I got another question, any good meditation techniques you could recommend me? so it can help me with my WILD attempts I sometimes find hard to just stay relaxed or not talking to myself maybe that's why I haven't been success full yet. Anyway thank you for reading talk to you later :P

Hello and welcome:)
Yes, it's perfectly natural for people to become lucid in dreams without trying every now and then. But, there are also people who do it often, they are called natural lucid dreamers.

Welcome to DV!! Anyways yes you can randomly lucid dream but it rarely happens if you aren't doing a method or are not a natural Lucid Dreamer.
Also a good way to relax is to count down from 100 but be aware. It works great for me.
Anyways good luck!
