How did you start out?
I'm desperate to LD. It sounds really awesome and I want to experience it. I currently have very little dream recall (I have some DJs on this site) and I'm having trouble remembering to do reality checks. I am on my 5th day doing a dream journal and I have noticed slight results. So how long did it take you to get your first LD from when you first found out about it? How did you do it? Any tips for someone just starting?
And also I have a question that I want someone to answer honestly and detailed. Exactly how awesome is a lucid dream? Is it really worth training yourself to do it? Some people say it is the best thing they have ever experienced, some say it really isn't all that great. Exactly how good is it?

I lucked into my first lucid lol, I was walking through walmart and my friend said something and I was like "But this is a dream" then it went spinning and I didn't know how to stablize it lol. They say when you can remember two dreams a night you should be pretty close if you don't luck into one. Also a problem for me first starting out was wanting it too much, I actually lost sleep over it lol, so you just have to find that zone of wanting it a lot but not too much. And when they hit they are awesome, even my short ones that spin away, I don't know it just feels like a little rush to me :p

I had lucid dreams every now an then as a kid, though back then i did not know what they were. All i knew was i could control them sometimes. A friend told me about lucid dreaming and i became very interested in it. I often had problems forgetting to reality check, so i made a bracelet that just said "Am i dreaming" and every time i looked and saw it i would do a check. But i didn't get results at first, it took a few weeks before my first few short lived lucid dream experiences. I guess i was just stressing about it to much at first.
A lucid dream is as awesome as you can imagine it to be. =)

I had my first LD long before I even knew what it was. I sorta forgot about it for a while, then while researching for a research report about sleep/dreaming, I stumbled upon the term "lucid." It took me exactly one month to have an LD after I started my DJ and I find that if I'm trying too hard, I won't get lucid.
Tip from a n00b: Don't forget to write in your DJ for more than a week!! It's tough to get back into a DJ after stopping for a while.
As for how awesome an LD is: It is indescribable. I get this amazing rush of excitement every time. :3 Like imagine doing something completely normal and then discovering that you can fly. Hard to describe.
Good luck with attaining lucidity!! It WILL happen. :)

Learning how to Lucid Dream is just like with anything. You don't see much improvement after five days of training in any sport, and learning this will take time. Don't see it as a burden, but as something nice to do on the side. It doesn't take much from you, a few minutes each day tops and some daydreaming (which is never boring) and you're on your way.
A lucid dream is what you make of it. Just the thing that you're inside of a dream and everything looks real, is amazing. Doing impossible stuff, is even more amazing. Some LD's are short, blurry and short, but they're still cool as I see it as progress. The memorable ones are awesome.

I just started on this site a few weeks ago and had my first lucid after a few days. This was more down to luck though so I wouldn't expect to see results immediately. Personally I believe it is all about finding the right technique. Originally I focused heavily on WILD but it just wasn't working and I got really annoyed. I seemed to be much better with DEILD though so I wouldn't get too annoyed if a certain technique doesn't work.
As to how good it felt, amazingly realistic. I did so many Reality Checks because I just couldn't believe that it was a dream. For me it's well worth the effort and once I start to get good at dream control I suppose they will become even better. Again though, I'd imagine this too varies from person to person and certainly from dream to dream.

First of all, Lucid dreaming takes time from a few weeks to a few years.. I'm just naturally better at it than some people, having had 3 LDs since I started here.
Second, It's incredible to LD. At first, just the feeling of having your first few LDs is good, but after awhile It becomes cooler just to be in a LD. You can do whatever you want with no long term consequences. Then, should you learn some Dream Control ,Things get really cool. I had a controllable lucid once, and It was one of the coolest things to happen to me. You could visit anywhere you want,do anything you want. Ever wanted to visit the grand canyon? LD it! Want a jet pack? LD it! If you learn some dream stabilization techniques, you can probably experience all of this as real as life.
