introductions and moving forward.
Hi :) I am just feeling my way around this site having joined today... Hope im posting in the right place. My background is in psychology and I have been lucid dreaming - intentionally - for about a year now. Initially it would happen quite by chance and was something I found very unpleasant. Usually feelings of not being able to wake up after realising I was dreaming or not being able to stay asleep if I was enjoying the experience.
I became interested in intentional lucid dreaming after having an experience while not being able to sleep one night which involved flying through what felt like a kaleidescope of colours and realising I was in control. Anyway I find that most lucid dreaming takes place after 6 am especially if I have not been able to sleep during the night. My lucid dreams are usually preceded by an unpleasant auditory hallucination (loud whistling whooshing noise with feeling of dread) which I am only just starting to get used to. I now realise that when I experience this noise I am about to luicd dream.
When entering the dream I am fully aware that I am dreaming and firstly reality test. I usually spin around and rub my hands together at the most conscious moments for fear of waking up and then I might rub the ground to see what the grass feels like etc. At these moments I am fully aware that I am asleep and I am able to make logical deductions and even remember things I have read and spoken to people about regarding lucid dreaming. I am able to fully control my movements and motion and am always able to locate a mirror to look at my reflection which usually begins very like me then changes. Last night I had an enormous pink rabbit stood behind me its view almost totally obscured by my reflection.
My dreams always take place in houses or streets where I have lived and are very alike. Sometimes my dream will begin in the place and postion I am actually in. The problem that I have and its a big one is that I CAN NOT control my environment. I can not bring people into my dream I just walk around calling them and they wont appear. I can not control where I am or what my surroundings look like. I want beautiful garden I get dead weeds and clouds. I want Jim Morrison I get the milkman...or a squid :? !!! If I cant control my environment lucid dreaming becomes POINTLESS as I can control my movements and touch the grass in my own back garden while im awake  ..... So in all not quite there yet? ha ha ha ha... Thank you to anyone who bothered to read I tend to be a bit wordy.........
