Unhappy I want to WILD dream because I want to have more control and recall, but I'm scared.

I'm eager to have these dreams, but I used to have really bad nightmares. I forget about all dreams unless the pertain to real life somehow, in which case I remember them well.

I think I selectively remember my dreams because I have had some pretty bad nightmares.

I want to lucid dream but I don't feel mentally healthy and I'm afraid of what my mind will produce. I've been really shaky emotionally and I'm afraid that dozing off one afternoon with numb legs and a pretty light show could turn bad if screeching metal or monsters appear.

Can somebody educate me on the negative aspects of WILD dreaming and if they think I should still go through with it? Today and tomorrow night are my only opportunities to WILD dream for a few weeks.

It all depends on your perception. Really there is nothing negative in life, its just that we perceive some things as being negative. That being said, I dont think I would recommend you try to WILD yet. You just seem a little too worried and the fact that you aren't confident in your own mental health, these beliefs could lead your mind to some scary places. I would say to work with DILD methods and just keep improving your recall with a dream journal. At the same time I would recommend that you pick up a meditative practice. Meditation, in my experience, is by far the best medicine for literally anything. With meditation it is likely you will learn a lot about who you really are. Your mental health would definitely improve as well. It would also help you to realize that your mind isn't necessarily real and that any new experience, like WILDing for example, may be scary for the mind but in reality it is an adventure for your soul. I just want to say that I have never even WILDed before so keep that in mind when considering my advice. I just can remember a time when I considered myself to be mentally unhealthy, but a regular meditative practice has brought me to a beautiful place. I know it could do the same for anyone who makes a sincere effort Anyway welcome to dreamviews, hopefully someone with more experience can tell you what it is actually like to WILD

Great said hashmash89. There's nothing when it comes to dreaming that is harmful for you, unless you believe it is. You should give the other techniques a go, and understand that things you expect to happen in LD's, usually happen. Don't scare yourself and realise you're in total control. No monster has any kind of power over you unless you think it has.

Also, try to view nightmares as something exciting and awesome instead of scary. I know it's hard, but it is possible. I had alot of them, but now I actually enjoy having them whenever I get them, and they're less frequent now because of that. You can get nightmares if you're stressed out over something, so try to find a balance in your life with some meditation or perhaps talk to someone.

Good luck! If you have further questions, don't hesitate to ask!

A major difference between SP and a non-lucid nightmare is that you know that what is happening isn't real. Trust me, it bothers you a lot less.
