Okay, is this too much to ask?
Say you are just starting lucid dreaming. Or starting back. (Like, if you haven't been keeping up with dreaming/your dreams) What would be the first step?
Could you tell me a list of steps to eventually make it up to lucid dreaming at will?

First you should keep a dream journal every day. You should note down every detail you remember from your dreams, even if it's just one word. This helps to improve your dream recall, which is necessary if you want to actually remember having a lucid dream. I would also recommend doing reality checks throughout the day at key points. You should do them when something happens that happens a lot in your dreams. Once you've been keeping a dream journal for a while, you will begin to notice these recurring themes, also known as dream signs.
I highly recommend reading the Intro to Lucid Dreaming lessons written by Zebrah, in the Dreamviews Academy (DV Academy), as this is written for beginners and will provide you with a good knowledge of lucid dreaming basics.

Yeah Shockwave gave some good advice. Keeping a DJ and doing RCs on a regular basis are the two main things when trying to get DILDs.
I say the first thing you should do is get into an RC routine. An ex-staff member once published a now removed tutorial that gave you an RC and a trigger to do each day (for example, today you might RC everytime you hear or say the word "goodbye" and tomorrow you might RC every time you open a door). RC's are very important, the positive effects of doing reality checks take a long time to show up but in the end it will pay off big time.
To elaborate on what the guys above said, DJing is good practice as it lets you and everyone else get to understand your dreams and how you dream better to be able to help you improve your control among other things. It also lets you identify dream signs and find out other interesting information. After two years of DJing, I discovered that I have an anniversary dream; I had a dream about two characters trying to kill me and stop me being lucid, who I killed using a nuke bomb (which shattered the dream world and the whole thing just collapsed until I was in another location lol whoops). Exactly one year later, around the same time of the morning I had the dream the year before, the characters re-appeared with the same motive.
Shit like that which gets you excited. Just thinking about lucid dreaming helps as well, saturate your mind with the idea.

I remember there being some sort of RC generator which is very similar to what you told me up above; but I can't remember where it is online lol.
Follow all of the advice here and lucid dreams will most likely come. Don't get disappointed at all. Reality checks, and Dream journals are key. :D
I believe Stephen LaBerge, founder of the "Lucidity" Institute, and author of the book "Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming", has stated that he can have lucid dreams at will.
I say to start MILD! Look in the wiki for a tutorial!
Just to add, I seem to be able to 80% of the time lucid dream by just expecting to before I go to sleep. I suggest you try this once you develop confidence in your ability to LD.

Give it time. You won't be able to do it at will - unless you're very lucky - for quite a while.
