3 months and 9 days
Thats how long it took me to unlock lucid dreaming . So yeah I'm a big fan of persistence :D
Hello , as that's my first post . I wanted to tell everyone who's trying to start lucid dreaming that there's that guy whom took ~3,5 months but he succeeded . I honestly would've tried for 5 or 10 months , because trying alone was interesting . Whats the story ? :
About 2 years ago (no idea if that's right) I found out about lucid dreaming and was so excited that I had a lucid dream on like the second day (I realized I was dreaming on some green field and first thing that came to mind was flying (because the guy* who's post about LD I first read said it was very hard for him to learn ) - so I tried , and floated (so awesome) then my mind scrambled on other things to try and I woke up (so it was quite brief) ) . After that I eventually forgot about LD for some reason .
At some point I read somewhere in my notes about it and set out to accomplish it again.
For some time I did a dream journal but that was too ... well lets say I was too lazy . But I kept revising dreams every morning .
And kept exploring (maybe too strong of a word) my mind every evening before going to sleep (which is very interesting for me even if it doesn't lead to LD ) .
So after 3 months and 9 days I had my first kind-of-lucid-dream : I realized something's not right but I thought I was back in time for some reason and gave my Shuffle to a friend as proof I've been back in time :D .
The second dream that I "woke up in" - I was flying (I got to recognize the flying-dreams I think) but as soon as that happened I woke up for real .
The third one (today) was with almost full lucidity so to say . Again I was falling/flying (I think I fell in some kind of abyss and then flew) . But this time I got to consciously maintain lucidity (at least for a little while) . I saw a friend of mine and I asked her if she saw the same stuff as I (she didn't) because I had some not so sane thoughts about us having a shared dream.
I had my first dream on the 17th so all that has happened within a week.
Thanks to all those who maintain the site because I found helpful resources here :)

Welcome to DV :).
It's great that you've had your first LD finally, and I'm impressed that you stayed motivated to keep trying for this long. It just reinforces the fact that while some people have their first LD in days, others have theirs after months, maybe even years; and that patience is a key factor in lucid dreaming.
