I think life "is" what we are.
everything you've experienced up to this point in your life is significant
choices you've made, things you've seen, people you've known, people you've loved, and so on. these things make us what are.
Life is whatever you make of it.
Life is what we are.. we must live it.
Life is deeper than any of us could fathom and the consciousness that we've evoleved into and maintain is the best that we can interpret it with at this moment in our existnece
Some elements of society are distracting. We can literally forget who we are and drown in commercialism, advertising, stress, etc. Life is what its all about. Love, Culture, art, thinking, etc, are all expressions of Life.
I think that 'enlightenment' comes from experiencing Life, so Life doesn't distract from a higher understanding of ourselves. If you're asking if Life can distract from a divine cause, I say no by default, because i dont believe in a God.
