Beginners luck???????
First of all, hi ;)
Found out about lucid dreaming last week on another forum. Someone explained how you can induce lucid dreaming through sleep paralysis. I followed the guide and after ten minutes of lying completely still I began to feel SP taking over me...I freaked out and snapped myself out of it...did this about three or four times...and each time SP began to take over me I would wimp out and snap my self out of it by wiggling my toes and fingers. Now I have done more research, and have no fear of SP, however, I can't seem to get to the SP stage like before...tried lying still for upto half an hour, tried WBTB technique, but doesn't seem to work like it did before...WTF.
Any suggestions???
Thanks
and great forum by the way

Try reading through the same guide you did in the beginning and try it again. Beginner's luck may have been the reason for success on your first attempts, and that's usually because there's no pressure to succeed. Now you're more aware of the process and are over-thinking it (I'm just speculating though). It's hard to get your body to fall asleep when your mind is awake, you have to lets your thoughts wander naturally, the way they do when you fall asleep normally.
Try reading some of the tutorials on here about WILDs, there's a lot of good advice out there. I think the easiest way to enter SP is to have a "consciousness anchor", like an external noise in your room. That way you can let your thoughts wander while that external noise keeps you grounded in reality. Another technique is to use a WBTB (Wake Back To Bed) before the SP attempt. That's when you set an alarm clock to wake you up in the middle of the night, and then use your tiredness to your advantage. It will allow you to slip back into SP very quickly so you won't have to lie in bed waiting; which is usually results in failure.
Good luck with your next attempt, and welcome to the forum :)

Thanks Raphael,
I think you're definitly right about the 'no pressure to succeed' when I first tried it. Now I feel very apprehensive/excited when trying it, which is obviously stopping the process.

Yeah, it could be that now you've researched it, you're more consciously aware of the anatomical processes as they occur, hence not being as relaxed as before. Also, there's a possibility that if you convince yourself it's just beginners luck, it'll probably stay that way. Have you noticed a change in your expectations? If so, try to put them to the back of your mind and just go with the flow. Raphael has given some extremely good advice, so I don't think I can add anything more apart from to wish you the very best of luck. :)

Your dreams are based on what you did throughout the day. If you read about lucid dreaming, guess what crept into your dreams ;)

I tried the same, except I think I got a little deep into SP, except I actually got really tired and I just couldn't stay conscious and couldn't go into a lucid dream.
Good luck to you though! :D
