      New in town.

      Hello everyone.

I've lurked this forum for a while and have attempted to lucid dream many times to no avail so I figured I'd register and get some help.

Most recently I've been trying to WILD. However I keep running into a few problems:

      1. I have a severe problem with keeping my eyes still. Is there a trick to it?

      2. I'm not sure if I actually reach SP. As it feels like my body is heavy, however I could move if I really wanted to.

Thanks for reading and for your help.

From what I have read WILD also requires that you wake up after one of your short REM cycles in the attempts to just purely jump into a lucid dream when you fall asleep again. I have tried the WILD but with no success as well. This technique in of itself is very tricky and can be difficult. If you are just starting out trying to obtain lucidity might I suggest the MILD, or DILD techniques. These are a bit easier and it might help you achieve a WILD if you complete these fist....that's just my opinion. For more help seek out one of the dream guides. Happy Dreaming!

If you don't mind my asking, how do you normally go about your WILD attempts? Are you using a specific guide?

Hi Moofer, welcome to Dreamviews. You're concerned about keeping your eyes still, while it may simply be easier to just let them wander about. As you relax, you'll end up paying less attention to your eyes; in this case, they'll just end up moving naturally (or finally staying still). Focusing on the backs of your eyelids for a few minutes can help to tire your eyes out before the actual WILD attempt, as can turning off/dimming the lights a good 10 minutes or so before bed, just so they have time to relax before you get into bed.

Heaviness is a sign that you're relaxed, but other than that, can you provide more information? Like Robot Butler already mentioned, describe what you do. What time do you usually attempt your WILDs, and how long before you get that feeling of heaviness, for example?
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

      Thanks for the welcomes everyone!

I think I may have solved my eye issue. I kinda just let them be and they settle down.

My WILD technique is basically from the Guide posted by King Yoshi, I figured that'd be an okay base. I just use that, and after about 20 mins or so my body gets heavy and numb but nothing else happens.
Another thing: my mind sort of wanders, but I never see any HI whatsoever. It just looks black.
I have attempted this at night before bed and about 3-4 after I wake up on occasion. I also have done a couple WBTB's, but I usually just end up falling asleep.

I dont know if its that I'm not relaxed enough or if im just not doing it right, I have no clue but thanks for your help.

Also, I have a DJ and have been doing RC's whenever I remember them.

      Welcome to DV
If you are just truly starting out, I would recommend waiting a bit for WILD.
Try MILD and other DILD inducing methods; WILD seems to be tricky for most beginners, then they get upset and give up because they can't WILD, maybe stop trying to WILD for a week or so, the try again.
If your eyes are moving, just let them, if you strain them with trying to make them not move, that can cause your WILD to fail.
