Someguy...the type of SP experienced when attempting a WILD can be fun, strange, bizarre, slightly scary, uncomfortable, etc. It's relatively easy to manage and there's really no need to fear it. But when someone wakes up into SP in the middle of the night (which can happen to absolutely anyone)...that is when people start talking about the sheer terror involved with SP. I guess the difference is, that in the former case, you are aware of your goal to enter SP so it is much less fearful. In the latter case, you are just waking up from a dream and suddenly and unexpectedly find yourself paralyzed because your mind wakes up before the body. This paralysis can last for a minute, and it is usually accompanied by hallucinations and remnants from the dream you are just waking from...which can make it particularly frightening. But typically, the SP you enter during a WILD will not be so frightening because, to quote the Joker, "it's all part of the plan."
Basically when it comes to SP, you're best bet, is to try your best to convince yourself that you are unafraid and to be prepared. Your own fear will only cause your experiences to be more frightening. So even if you feel afraid, give yourself positive reinforcement that you have no reason to fear SP (absolutely nothing can hurt you! it's all just in your own head), and think about how you will deal with a SP incident once you get there. Try to prepare yourself as best as possible. Make a game plan.
