Hey Everyone I'm Matthew
I'm here because about a week ago I started my journey in inducing Lucid Dreams.
I've been keeping a dream journal, doing a reality check ("am I dreaming?") every hour on the hour, taking 3mg of Melatonin every night, and meditating before I sleep.
I'm pretty psyched and optimistic. I'm not worried about "trying" to have a lucid dream...I accept the fact that I WILL as an inevitability.
I had a lucid dream once in 1999 and didn't realize that it was a "thing". I was taking naps during the day just to dream...recalling them was never a problem. Then one day I became aware that I was dreaming while I was dreaming...I started taking BIG leaps from car roof top to car roof top.
I never have used a forum in my life. I'm familiar with them, I just haven't been passionate about something enough to join a forum. I hope to make friends here that I can share experiences and stories with and hear some tips, tricks, and any advice I can get my hands on.
Look forward to talking to you soon!
:)

Welcome to the forum! Check out the wiki section for information on the different techniques and such, it's a good place to start. You have a pretty good mindset going into it, I'm sure you'll have success. Good luck with it :)

Hey Matthew, welcome to Dreamviews! =)
It sounds like you're off to a good start, with dream journaling, meditation, supplements and reality checks. Be sure that when you do your reality checks (RCs), you're not simply going through the motions but are really asking yourself if you're dreaming. It's good to observe what's around you and really consider the possibility that you could be dreaming, because naturally you don't do this in dreams; as a result you don't become lucid. Dedication and mindset is key, and you definitely sound dedicated!
Raphael made a good recommendation; you should definitely have a read through the DV Wiki, as it has a lot of good information.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask! There's a lot of helpful users on the forum that will answer.
