Serious Stabilization problems.

Hi people I'm new to this forum but I'm not new to lucid dreaming.

I've been trying to LD for about the past 5 months now and I have succeeded with becoming lucid about 30 times, but the problem is many of these Lucid dreams are really short, we're talking less than a minute. I would say that I've only ever had 2 worthwhile lucid dreams.

All this is because as soon as I become lucid I find it impossible to stabilize. The first thing that happens is that my vision gives out and I don't just mean that it goes blurry, I'm virtually fighting my eyelids to keep them open. Also, I can't walk straight, all my motor fuctions go out of the window and I end up falling about, meaning that I can't spin or anything like that. Its like being severely drunk. And for my past two lucids after being unable to stabilize I've found myself in really realistic non-lucids.

First of all, this problems of yours might be caused by too much Excitement, try calming yourself when you're in a lucid dream. Secondly, another solution I personally think that'll fix your problem is ADA(All Day Awareness). The technique is basically used to have better chances of having DILDs and having vivid dreams. ADA is about staying "Aware" all day. Here's an example: While you're walking towards school, try to feel the breeze of the wind through your face, the movements of your joints, the weight of your bag, the blinking of your eyes, the pressure below the soles of your feet, the rustling of the autumn trees, the shadows you cast upon the sidewalk, the noise produced by the cars, EVERYTHING YOUR BODY AND SURROUNDINGS MAKE.

If you're fully aware of you're body and surroundings, I bet you'll be able to control your dream body much better. Hope this helps, I f you have questions/clarifications, feel free to ask :)

I know its not excitment because I can keep myself calm in dreams now and the samething happens.

And thanks for the all day awareness I've just read though it and try it to see what happens.

This is so frustrating. The same things happens to me. I try to be calm, do reality checks, observe, feel and grab things in order to make a dream more stable, but it just fails. Even if it stabilizes, i 'll make 5 steps and i will blackout out of nowhere. And i 'm pretty sure it's not about excitement, cause the first lucid i ever had was like 15-20 minutes long... and this makes it even worse! Thanx about the ADA link, looks really useful :)

I'm just gonna give this a bump and tell you something that happend last night.

I began lucid and I started jumping up a set of houses getting higher so I could jump off and fly. I was perfectly stable but as soon as I though about stabilizing the dream began to fade. I spun (I didn't have the drunk problem, or fighting to keep eyes open, just fading vision) but spinning did nothing and I woke back up in bed.
