Recalling the Dreams
Hi I am newbie on this forum and I have a few questions about dreaming. I dont know, whether it falls under Lucid dreaming or not, but it is about general dreaming.
My question is, I used to dream in sleep like most of the persons do. I do remember the stuff from the dreams even if I take a nap in the afternoon. But many of many of friends dont. Eg. Last night, I dreamt of something which I had had dream of a war where there a lot of people were fighting and I was one of them but the next moment, we were having food on dining table and were discussing about our lost friends and I was weeping.
Its been 15 hours since that dream and I still remember it which is something annoying and disturbing especially when I have a penalty of work to do and I am without concentration. But it is not case with my many of friends. They never able to recall their dreams and a few of them once in a month can recall a scene out of their dreams while, I cant lose focus from the previous dreams until I again fall asleep and would dream something new but, the next day, it would be on mind for the whole of the day.
Is there anyway that I can control my dreams and not to keep them remembered ever? Like my friends, they never able to recall any of the scene they dreamt in their sleep. It may be annoying for some of you guys that you can recall them but I want to get rid of them. I want a dream free sleep and full-focused day. Pls help

some people would describe what you have as a gift, as most of us have to work to remember dreams, for me i've had dreamless nights and nights in which i fully remember 3-5 different dreams and I dont really know why but if you want to stop remembering the dreams as much, I would suggest trying to wake up much after a REM period instead of during or right after cuz that is when you are most likely to remember your dreams

When people want to remember their dreams they usually lie awake in bed for a few minutes thinking about anything they may have dreamt. If you don't want to recall your dreams i would suggest getting up and out of bed immediately and doing something right away, like take a shower or get some breakfast. Although remembering your dreams shouldn't bother you throughout the day, so I can't really say anything there. Best of luck.

I have the same problem.
I want to say though, certain psychiatric disorders can be causing the problem to be as bad as it is. (I know why it's so hard for me. maybe you should see a doctor?)

You have to remember they are just dreams, and you shouldn't let it affect your day. When it comes to lucid dreaming, recalling your dreams is a necessity, and very helpful.

Thnx for reply dreams might not affect your daily lives but, are mine even though they are just dreams. Though, I am really curious about lucid dreaming now, as I have searched through dreamviews's whole forums but not able to understand, precisely what are they look like. I do have watched Inception twice of times but unable to understand that their 'inception' work i.e. planting the ideas in a person's mind doing deeper dream within a dream upto 3 and 4 levels deeper, can actually change one person's thinking or it is just a piece of fiction?

Cherish the good ones, and try to forget about the bad ones. Why your recall is so good might not only be because that's how you are, but also because you pay attention to the dreams. Whenever you wake up, don't try to remember anything but start your day with thoughts on what you will do. If you stop paying them attention, they will gradually go away when you get older.
Also, Inception is fiction. It has taken a few things from dreaming and morphed them into something fitting for an action movie.
I suggest you read up on lucid dreaming and try to learn yourself how to realise you're dreaming whenever you're having a nightmare. That's how I started lucid dreaming. I realised I was dreaming whenever I had a nightmare and woke myself up. But don't do that, play around instead :) Good luck!
