Ah, but it's well known that the web isn't a great learning tool. It IS great for finding your way to the good info, but what you can actually read on the web itself, especially on message boards, tends to be broad but shallow. Understandably, people don't put as much thought or effort into writing a post on a message board as into writing a book.
I don't mean to knock my favorite site AT ALL!! Hell I LOVE this place, and like you, I've learned a lot here that I haven't seen in any books. What's great about this forum is that people who know a lot about LDing and experience it themselves get into conversations and can quickly compare notes and check each others' results... it's almost like a testing lab spread across the globe staffed by volunteers who love what they're doing. So yes, you most definitely can get a lot of info here that you can't get from books - but by the same token (opposite side of the coin) you can get info in the books that you don't get here except by people repeating it, which usually waters down the info and means you're depending on their understanding and memory.
So basically using both books and the web is a good way to get a more rounded learning experience.
